this food is so fucking good lois

this video aged like a fine wine guess who got buffed LMAO

Soulvester took that personally

well well well.

While the BlushCrunch studio could be steering Soulvester's characterization towards a more, "He's a poser who isn't what he seems and everything about him is fake," I think it would be more nuanced and interesting if he struggles with feeling significant. He wants to matter, and the armor helps amplify it further. He does inhabit the virtues of a knight, but thinks it only means something if he has the armor on. He isn't performing bravery, but rather performing worth. He isn't wrong about who he is, only the identity he placed onto himself.
That, to me, would be more interesting.

THEY LEGIT MADE THIS HIS NEW ABILITY OMG

He's the one that needs to be saved more often than not

Green soulvester: ohhhh im so green 💚💚🟩🟩🟢🟢

Soulvester was NOT letting this slide

I think Soulvester’s relationship with Gourdy is especially tragic. If you don’t count Ribbeca, Soulvester is one of the only toons who spend the most time with him. And seeing Gourdy’s mental health slowly deteriorating because of something out of Soulvester’s control, must feel absolutely horrible.
Because he clearly loves that kid! Soulvester swears up and down that he is a mighty knight with his armor shined and his persona real. He’s the one that insists on protecting EVERYONE in Gardenview, and yet he can’t save even ONE little kid, the one he possibly sees as his little brother, or at least as family.
Now that his sister’s gone, he barely has anyone to confide in (not like she was very nice to him anyway), only responsibilities and empty promises he’ll never fulfill and that’s just heartbreaking.
I absolutely love the story behind Soulvester. It adds just enough depth to him to be a fully fledged character and it isn’t one note (unlike Ribecca or Eggson, for example). The problem with him, though, is that in order for him to be a “good” toon, he needs a mix between good gameplay and a well-executed characterization, and he has NEITHER.
This video discusses, why Soulvester’s gameplay is not that great, so I won’t go in depth about that. But it absolutely saddens me how little characterization Soulvester has. And don’t get me wrong, the small amount of content that we get about him is definitely enough to understand his character, but not every fan of Dandy’s World is able to scour for clues about his personality, unless he’s like their favorite character. Not to mention the average media literacy skills of the Dandy’s World fandom…yeesh..
(Side tangent: I wish more people picked up on Gourdy and Soulvester’s relationship as maybe being adoptive brothers. A lot of people know that Rodger and Toodles are like an adoptive father and adoptive daughter, but there’s hardly anyone depicting Soulvester and Gourdy’s relationship at all. Gourdy’s my favorite character in the whole game, so it was important for me to understand his relationships with people that are the closest to him, Halloween toons in particular. As an older sibling, I also deeply resonate with Soulvester and the responsibility he carries for Gourdy. I really wanna see these two interact more and have fun, because both of them are really tragic).
So, what I’m trying to say is, I wish there was at least more Dandy’s World content with Soulvester. The game has so many characters that are barely fleshed out, but Soulvester has POTENTIAL. I’d hate it to go to waste! I’m really looking forward to the next Halloween event and hoping that it adds at least a little bit more content with him!

EDIT: thank you for 50 likes, friends!! I’ve never gotten this many :D
EDIT 2: WOOHOO! 100 likes! Thank you so much, you’ve really made my day!! ^^

3:54 personally i disagree with this reading, i think connie and soulvester's relationship is more of genuine bitterness from connie's end rather than "playfully hostile standard sibling bullying" and her rudeness towards him both in front of him and behind his back is supposed to reflect that

connie is shown to feel very self conscious about her old name being one of the few things she will let get to her as shown best in her interaction with rodger, and i believe soulvester's lack of attempt to address to her properly would cause some animosity from her end, possibly even being the driving force for why she belittles his need to be seen as a strong knight, a "if i can't have my identity respected you can't either" type of deal if you will

Poko, I love your idea for Souvester's lore/character arc, but there's one problem... it gives Soulvester a happy ending. And I don't think BlushCrunsh will allow any of the Toons to have happy endings.

<hugs all the traumatized cartoon beans>

Also, I think there is definitely a big fat old of irony to Soulvester's determination to protect the Toons. Not only do his current stats and ability not further that goal as much as he'd probably like, but the vast majority of the Toons' most persistent problems aren't really something he can physically guard them from. Bassie's struggle to feel worthy; Shelly grappling with the fact that hardly anyone seems to notice she exists; the existential horror that is Squirm, Waxwell, and Shrimpo's entire existences- and probably the most close-to-home for him, Gourdy having memories of a loving family that he never got in real life. And in most of the these cases, Soulvester can't do anything to save them from these problems because he's often not even aware of them.

I still find it both hilarious and insane that in one update, BlushCrunch said "Hey guys, here's Soulvester!" Handing us Soulvester,  and then immediately afterwards going "Okay, now here's BETTER Soulvester!" And handing us Gourdy, who is basically just Soulvester without the 1 star movespeed downside

Soulvester literally got screwed over in the exact same update he debuted in bro

Aged horribly..

As someone who doesn’t play Soulvestor I can confirm he hasn’t saved me yet

"Soulvester can't protect anyone."

Bluahcrunch 2 weeks later:
"What if Soulvester could protect everyone?"

Correction: One single person. If you could swap targets freely or just guard everyone it'd be better, but costing a heart to target kinda ruins it.

I love to see that the only three adult Dandy's World youtubers that I watch are all friends in the comment section

I loooooove Soulvester, but I can’t play him, because I’ll die, but I looooove Soulvester

i dunno what importance this'll have but twisted soulvester can also unintentionally help you find machines in blackouts if you know how to stalk him right,, ironically a connie player made me realize this

YOU PREDICTED IT.
