Every time I saw the digital graphic of where the facet line was out of parallel, a voice inside my head screamed and the image of Edvard Munch's The Scream came to mind. Few things are more shameful than a poorly cut gem.

Thank you for making this. I just started my cutting journey a few months ago and while I am cutting on a mast machine this was still helpful in explaining the cheater.

This type of cheater is a fine adjustment of the index gear. MDR and possibly others used a different method equivelent to using the feet on a hand peice. A good explaination.

I can't even cheat correctly lol. I've been trying to get the stone within a Nat's ass of perfection before polishing despite knowing that you can still change the stone while polishing. I've been marking the cheater so that when I use it to cheat I put it back before I go on to the next step. This way solve that problem but it goes back to my issue with trusting the process in the first place because the process has not always been good to me.

Hi Justin, if I have done the pavilion and now want to do the crown and I find that the stone is slightly misaligned and the girdle is not parallel . You mentioned you use the cheater to align it. Do you leave the cheater at the same setting during the whole crown faceting process once you adjust the cheater to get the girdle parallel.
