The way I see it, all of these people are effectively curators and historians charged with preserving ancient arts.

It's a testament to Imelda Staunton's acting genius that I can look at her and see Queen Elizabeth while completely forgetting Dolores Umbridge.
How many actors, even great actors could shake off entirely the shadow of such an iconic role?

Imagine dedicating your life to a craft based around a document hundreds of years old from a king in the stories, and handing that document to the queen herself, knowing it by heart. Amazing scene.

She looked almost like she might cry as the text about swans was read. I think meeting the staff, seeing and hearing the history of it all, was humbling for her.

I liked this episode. The thought was that a lot of these roles were superfluous and could be cut, and then when they actually interview the staff you find out that despite the silly titles most of them have a very important job for keeping the household running. And so many of them took so much pride in their work.

A beautiful episode and a love letter to the staff of the monarchy. Some Families have served the monarchy for generations and take great pride in their service. They represent tradition. A foundation of the nation that should not be ignored or forgotten. One of the many things that make Great Britain unique and remarkable.

I always thought the most touching part of QE2’s funeral was when the Car went into Windsor Castle and her Pony was standing at the side of the road with its groom.,

this episode did a great deal to shine a light on the very Hard-Working people who keeps these great traditions running.....so that all may enjoy the sheer BEAUTY of history.

This was one of my favorites. I was fully done in when they got to the Keeper of the King’s Swans. Why are there not an endless number of children’s books featuring these lyrical professions?

Thats a dream job. Looking after all the glassware across all the Queens estates. I would leave everything behind me tonight to start that job tomorrow

The Queen repeating what his Uncle said about monarchy in the coronation episode was a great recall.
"They want the magic and the mystery. The arcane, and the eccentric, and the symbolic. And. The transcendent."

This is a beautiful episode that explains the importance of understanding history. The world comes and goes, and some things may seem outdated, but at the same time, we cannot forget the importance of the past that got us to this moment in time. The more we forget what got us here, the more mistakes we'll make in the future.

If you are going to have a Monarch, He / She should be surrounded with all manner of great dignities, specials preferences and exotic / unique things.

My keeper of the swans has a hat made of swan feathers. He's called Henry, and he's a lovely man.

Staunton was my favourite. Modest, tough, pugnacious, reflective.

I like how the queen's smile translates to "WTF.. I didnt even know such jobs existed in my house" and then she genuinely shows interest in all of their jobs.

This was an awesome episode. The fact that these people have kept records since the 1500’s. They know things that no one would ever even think about. It is a living history passed on for centuries. It’s was so beautiful.

If you remember the episode when she was a young when Queen Mary gave her that speech. "...To give ordinary people an ideal to strive towards, an example of nobility and duty to raise them in their wretched lives." The Queen remembered
