Lovely to see the old gal's again, so many happy memories, good old days and so many good old boys now gone very sad but a great time to live through

Love the Drinkwater fodens , happy memories of those, spent all my school holidays riding in those , learnt to drive in them , ( on private land obviously i was about 9 years old)

Nice to see an Elliott's Foden, they were based 5 minutes from where i live in Bournemouth, had a fleet of Fodens then changed to MAN's before they closed down.

Great to see  these charming old vehicles. My late brother Tommy, used to drive the old  " 8 Leggers " for  John Summers , later British steel. Based at Shotton steelworks in North Wales, his regular run was taking steel stock to BSA  Motorcycles in Birmingham. No power steering and somewhat noisy, but he loved every minute.  Thank you for the trip down memory lane.😊

Keep it up mate. God it brings back memories good, bad and bloody awful from the last 50 years but I still miss it every day 👍

Oh, this was a fantastic video for bringing back memories of the old trucks from the years gone by.  There was one picture of a truck loaded up with sacks of grain all neatly built up on it. I remember watching a Thames Trader that had a hydraulic sack lifter on the back being loaded by two men with sack barrows who rolled the sacks to the lifter and dropped them on it.
When the sack was laid on the lifter frame, it pushed down on a strap which activated the hydraulics that lifted the sack for the men on the floor of the truck to catch it on their shoulder before stacking the sacks neatly on the lorry. It was quite a sight to see it working. All long before bulk tippers and tractors with loaders and tele-handlers became the normal methods of loading grain. 😂😂

Great photos as always thank you

Great stuff. Do you want more pictures of old trucks/Middle East transport etc?

Nice to see  the Drinkwater Dusters

Longs,    Yardleys. Aone. Carr of Morley. All  large haulage company’s from Leeds not showing

The steering wheels were large, is that because they had no power steering and had to be muscled around, lorry drivers in them days were often depicted with pop eye forearms

Fantastic Christopher and many thanks for your kind efforts That Red Atkinson loaded with the sacks looks heavy and I wonder what element of “ Handball” was used in the loading and unloading process?
