27:49 The kakapo have had a record breeding season this year. A confirmed 106 chicks born!

10:59 So the funny thing is, most predatory animals already avoid us! Animals outside of cities are extremely wary of humans, and only bother us if we invade their personal space, hurt them somehow, or get close to their kids. Otherwise, even a mountain lion, moose, or brown bear will see a human as “this is dangerous, I should stay away unless it gets too close”

They’ve actually made studies on drugged fish.
Can’t remember what kind of fish but they tested multiple tanks and added different stimulants to see how wildlife reacts to different things we flush.

Imagine the Arabian Sand Boa staring at you with those menacing, goofy-derpy eyes out of the sand.

That engine blowing up @ 32:00 is from Garage 54. They made an entire block out of acrylic in order to try and make a see through engine that could run.

It was able to go through one successful cycle of one of the cylinders (intake > compression > combustion > exhaust) which caused a crack in the block. It then promptly exploded, either on the compression or combustion phase of the next cycle. It didn't last as long as they hoped, but they did manage to make a video of it.

Those guys are always doing something weird or outright insane. Like making a weed wacker powered by a 1JZ engine (around 200 horsepower... a regular trimmer is 1-2 horsepower), mounted to a car.

edit: The acrylic engine was made from a mold of an engine from a Lada.

13:15 I don't think those eggs 🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪

That story about the pig always gets me to bust out laughing, I can't help but picture the pig headbutting the cow once and the cow's like 'Okay annoying but tolerable' then the pig does it three or four more times, the cow gets pissed off and  turns around then the Pig just hauls ass just thinking "Oh shit" the entire time

Yeee magpies are super intelligent, they can actually tell people apart. We make a little peace offering to them every now and then and they come up onto the 2nd story deck and hang out, they even bring the family along to chill xD not one swooping incident in our entire time at this house.

32:54 Volvo and SAAB all the way.

I mean, if you think about it, birds' respiratory systems and metabolism are made for sustained flight, which takes a TON of energy and oxygen, so it makes sense that when you take away the flight they're great runners. Like, their lungs don't expand, they have air sacs that pump air through their hollow bones so oxygen gets to their muscles more efficiently.

Also makes sense that a larger bird isn't necessarily faster than a smaller bird; the square-cube law means the emu has a LOT more weight to carry.

32:59 this is obvi a very popular meme and the funny thing is…im 95% sure this is 30 minutes away from my home town. Which is crazy.
