Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya reveals details of his finances, properties, vehicles and personal circumstances as he makes his case for bail before the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

In his bail affidavit, Sibiya states that his gross monthly SAPS salary is R158,652, with a net monthly salary of R83,382, in addition to fluctuating income generated from a family business.

Sibiya also places details of his assets before the court. His affidavit lists two properties purchased for R1.55 million and R1.8 million, as well as another sectional-title property that he says has been sold but had not yet been transferred.

His listed vehicles include a 2007 Range Rover, 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, 2022 GWM bakkie and an Isuzu van. His affidavit also states that his wife owns a 2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA220.

Sibiya tells the court that he is the primary breadwinner in his household and has several dependants.

He further describes himself as a “viable economic asset” and argues that remaining incarcerated would halt his ability to generate income.

As part of his argument that he does not pose a flight risk, Sibiya says he is prepared to surrender his passport for the duration of the trial if necessary.
