In the seventies and eighties I was a flight attendent for a German airline. On a flight from Frankfurt to Stuttgart we had a group of about 20 American ladies with their tour guide. Our landing in Stuttgart was about 1600 hrs and the tour guide asked me : "Excuse me, will the Black Forest still be open today?: I was stunned, but stuttered that the Black Forest is not a Disney Land, but a whole area in the SW of Germany. Her look of pure disbelieve still haunts me today.

when I was a teen, I was visiting a small but wonderful museum in Tuscany. It was full of finds from Etruscan tombs, included a vast selection of small vases used for ointments. They are wonderfully decorated, made of alabaster, other semiprecious stones or in the typical black and red terracotta. 2500 years and a wonderful of humans' skills. And a stupid vapid woman said to his husband "you brought me here to see some shards!". I was a very polite and shy kids, but if my actual, sarcastic me would be here at the time, I would say to her to go to look the windows at the nearest shopping center and leave the art and culture to people capable of appreciating them.

I once went to Giverny to see Monet`s house and Japanese garden. How I managed to get over 100 photos without bodies in the shot was a sheer miracle. It does take patience. A brief shower made many visitors scarper for cover. I watched the water and saw raindrop circles in the water among the lilies and it made the place come alive for me. You have to embrace nature, sometimes a flower looks prettier and more alive with a little moisture. The "entitlement" is what is wrong with the people in this video.

When we visited the Taj Mahal I was somewhat incapacitated by a severe migraine, but was still able to appreciate the number of unexpected Egyptian vultures on its dome.

I remember tourists in Rome saying: "You can give the Roman Forum a pass. There's nothing there. It takes 5 minutes to see." Other Tourists in Seville complained that everyone spoke Spanish! 😮

I travelled a lot in my 20 plus years in the military and always found something interesting or remarkable in a country that I had seen before. Took one day just to watch the Panama Canal work, visited Mayan and Aztec Ruins, visited European and Oriental Palaces and Castles, saw the Aurora Borealis, famous battle sites, ruined capitals and cities, visited monasteries, saw famous art works, watched shooting stars/meteor showers in the desert, snorkeled and dived in the Oceans, hiked and saw jungles. The thing I took away was being humbled and feeling a little worried about where we are going in the future and if our ancestors look down on us and we gave you everything and you complain about it.

Once met a tourist in Madrid, complaining, that you can't visit Guggenheim Museum and Alhambra on same day. He was really surprised, that none of them is in Madrid.
