Hi! We’re building a productive farm and a new life in the Philippines, learning as we go and sharing the (mostly) practical, financial and environmental realities along the way.
This video:
Six months after installing our home solar system in the Philippines, we finally have enough real-world data to see how it's actually performing.
We look at six months of solar production, battery use, grid consumption and electricity bills; plus what we've learned, what we'd change, how it handles blackouts, and whether we still think the investment was worth it.

I rather naively told myself I’d try to reply to every comment because so many of them have been thoughtful and detailed. After spending several hours doing that yesterday, I’ve realised I may have grossly underestimated the task 😅
I’m still reading as many as I can, and I really do appreciate the advice, questions, corrections and experiences people are sharing. If I don’t manage to reply to yours please don’t take it personally, put it down to my reply fatigue!
Thanks again for all the support and for making the comments such a useful discussion. It’s been quite humbling to see.
