I was born in Eastbourne in 1952 and lived there till I was 16...It has changed a lot since then of course. I used to find the ageing population unsympathetic to a teenage boy growing up in the 60s so left for the Big City as soon as I could...I have been back from time to time and appreciate the beauty of the town more and more. I'm thinking of moving back there and this short video is the best I have seen on Youtube. Thanks for posting......
I feel very fortunate to have been born in Eastbourne, It was indeed a wonderful place to live and grow up in. I lived here from 1960 to 1999, before moving to California where my second wife is from. I've visited back a few times and sincerely hope to make it back again in the future.
Visited a few days ago, arrived at 3pm, it hosed it down for three hours then I went to bed and left at 5am. I watched your ace video just to see what it was like. Top marks for this, chum.
For walkers along the front there are few free places to sit and eat your own grub with little shelter from the sun or rain. There are benches but the road is at the back of them so you regularly get a breath of exhaust fumes. Like living here but mainly go east of the pier - quieter and more elbow room during the busy days.
Stop here a few years ago at the bay majestic " which is now closed . loved it . we went to visit beachy head where they filmed the last bit of the film quadrophenia 1979 where the character Jimmy (Phil Daniels) jumps off the cliff with the , faces (sting) scooter and. also Brighton's " East Street . Another part of quadrophenia filming locations .
