He didn't even seem sad when he was sent to Belize
Yes, we see that Jesse becomes more of a competent and even equal cook to Walter as the seasons go, but the quick uptake to what Walt meant, the tone of disappointment and disapproval, and just straight up walking out and everyone else but Saul following just gives him the aura that he's come into his own as a chemist and not just Walter's assistant.
