Man if that '99 Bucs team had an offense (or maybe just a top QB from that season), they'd be champions. Holding THAT Rams offense to just 9 points was a mightily impressive feat

The greatest defensive performance ever that didn't result in a win. To not even crack 6 points is an abomination.

It's crazy how good the Bucs D was. If only they had an offense, they most likely win the Super bowl.

Derrick Brooks, Hardy Nickerson and Sheldon Quarles was an underrated Linebacker trio

What a defensive battle this was.  If Bucs just had a competent offense, they coulda been a dominant force in the league.

The 1999 Rams season is strange. Their defense deserves WAY WAY more credit than it has ever been given and this is evident by London Fletcher still not being inducted into the Hall of Fame. The 99 Rams defense was ranked #4 in total yards, 4th in points allowed, #1 against the run, tied for 1st in interceptions, and #1 in defensive touchdowns with 8. They not only won the NFC Championship in a slugfest, they also finished off the Tenessess Titans on the goal line. One of the best Super Bowl champion defenses all-time. Time to put respect on their names.

When one of the team has 5 points on the board, it's gonna be a good game

The league has been changing what a catch is for almost 25 years. Unbelievable. That WAS a catch!

That Buccaneers defense always gave you the illusion that they had more than 11 guys on the field...They flew everywhere..

This should be called the Ricky Proehl catch game, as a part time Bucs fan this broke my 16 year old heart

Nothing Like Some Classic Late 90s To Early 2000s NFL Throwback Games. What A Great Era Of NFL Football. :( :)

The most unlikely score for an NFL game ever  11-6

This is was an impressive game to watch, but the officials should have given the catch to Emanuel

Here's the thing: At the time the rules were that if the ball hits the ground, it's automatically incomplete. Thats why they changed the rules in the off-season. If the ruling by the official was wrong, then there would be no need to change the rule. Madden (RIP) probably made it more controversial then it should have been made by incorrectly saying it was a completion (which the next year it would be).

It’s insane how dominant this Tampa Bay defense was. The Bucs made it all the way to the NFC Championship with Shaun fucking King as their quarterback

Ah, the Buccaneers team who rode it's defense year in and year out but with an inept offense as well.
Also that Bert Emanuel rule catch isn't talked about enough smh

Game would look so different in the modern NFL. Rams attempt a FG on a 4th and 1 from the 27; Bucs punt from the Rams 35. Rams clearly call a timeout with 1 second left in the first half but the Bucs run off the field (lol). And obviously the Emanuel catch.

Hall of Famers:

Rams: Dick Vermeil (Head Coach), Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Orlando Pace

Buccaneers: Tony Dungy (Head Coach), Derrick Brooks, Warren Sapp, John Lynch, Ronde Barber

I was at this game.......the dome could rock!!!!

Though Tampa lost that was one of the greatest defensive performances I have watched
