This was a 2-day 1-night winter backpacking trip to the summit of Mt Baldy, the third highest peak in Southern California at 10,064 feet. Robert ‪@20robertang‬  and I started at the Manker Flat trailhead (6,100 ft) and set up our base camp in the snow just below the bottom of Heartbreak Hill at 8700 feet before summiting the next morning. There was quite a bit of drama going on with one climber falling about 600 feet down the bowl and another hiker getting lost in whiteout conditions. Luckily both survived with only minor injuries, but one of them did require a helicopter rescue. The date of this trip was March 16th and 17th, 2024. This completes our winter backpacking triple crown where we did San Gorgonio in January, San Jacinto in February, and Baldy in March!
