dottore and rerir carried the whole nod krai. But especially Dottore. He's one of my fav characters only for how well he was written and his impact on the story

I actually think Ei did not in fact know about the effects of the delusions. Also it was Robo Raiden who killed Signora. Ei was in Eurythmia at that time. Uncaring and such

Correction about Ei. She was aware her people were suffering but she did not care, this might sound controversial but since you put some HSR clips I can make an easy comparison. Anaxa once said to a certain savior that despite them saying they were acting in the interest of the people and truly believing it they became no different than an Icy god from whom they were trying to protect the people.

In other words that savior saw the suffering as something that could be overlooked due to the final goal being so appealing. Ei is similar where she did not care about anything (part of her anti-erosion training) as long as it did not interfere with her final goal of cutting off inazuma from the world and potentially subsuming her nation into the plane of euthymia keeping it forever preserved in its current state of "peace" from the heavenly principles.

Edit: if you want a world quest villain that was interesting I'd say Kukulkan was the most interesting to cover, followed by perhaps the professor in nod krai.

Edit 2: To the Raiden apologists in replies please go to this link and go to the times said below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5rGnGsyfIU

2:03:24~2:04:26.

Its clear she does not care for people individually nor their wishes, she made a vow of eternity on her own decision and said it was for her people without even trying to ask them what they want then when they suffered she blamed them for fighting back such as teppei.

get a life she's pixles she wont let you hit.

What i gathered from the moon world quest is that the heavenly principles may come from a world that was destroyed by the abyss. When they got to Teyvat, they sought to create a replica of their planet and also protect the planet from the abyss

La Signora was NEVER going to go anywhere. She was the Cocolia variant of genshin and her shitty fate was set in stone before the game released.. 😔

Phanes is such an interesting character, having the main antagonist be the most selfless guy in the story. It would be so cool if we meet him by the end of Snezhnaya.

I feel like as a general character, Scaramouche is one of ( if not ) the best written villains. Not as a villain, obviously, but as a general character. However, in terms of writing as a villain, I personally believe Dottore to be one of the best written villains based off of evil alone.

and this is why i always say read lore correctly.
the reason why she did agree with VHD was that the vision are connected to Celestia and HP and she is cutting ties with them and it was implied more then 3 times.
and the gnosis is the same its connected with Celestia and HP
as such she did no use in it and tried to destroy it and make it a pure elemental energy for puppet but it didn't work so she did handover it to yae miko.

First of all, great video and interesting points! Crazy how underlooked this vid is, i hope this goes out to more people 😭🙏
Second of all, I wanna give my own opinions/ views regarding villainy (especially the Fatui) in Genshin.
I can't be the only one who thinks that the actions of all humanoid characters or beings are, at least currently, something Hoyo writes in a way that leaves the door open for a tragic backstory. Rerir, Raiden Shogun, La Signora, Dottore (my fav ✌️) and so many other "villainous" characters have backstories which just about leave the door of tragedy open to possibly touch upon at a later date? The abyss, considering we know very little about it, is more of an abstract concept instead of one singular person thus making the Abyss feel like a more inexcusable of a threat.

And yes, by this i am referring to how everyone (humanoid) who has anything remitely tragic in their backstory can be used as fuel for "redemption" in Hoyo's writing as we currently know it. This is very much coping and only theorizing and A LOT OF REACHING on my part, but that's why in the future they could easily use this writing tactic we've seen and bring back characters like La Signora or Dottore, MAYBE even Rerir playable.
I'm mostly saying this as someone who believes for Il William Aftonttore's third return, yes, but from what i've noticed it would seem like Hoyo's writing isn't that black and white as it seems. The only remotely, ACTUALLY evil and inexcusable entity in Genshin rn is the Abyss, whereas creatures affected by it who were led to do "evil" in one way or another could technically be redeemed...?

Very much coping and reaching on my part, but i thought i'd share this anyway. I've just seen so many ppl saying they can't make villains playable, which is kind of true considering any given character needs to be at least on decent terms w the traveller, but i believe that for as long as any given character(villain) has some tragic gimmick in their past, Hoyo could find loopholes for redemption.
Tho it would mean we'll never be getting the actual villain versions of characters, i'm not even surprised atp 🙏

Ei wasn't a good villain because she was more of an Antagonist than a villain. Ei was never evil, all she did is for the good of her country to protect it from the heavenly principles and other aliens(as in from outside the country). Even the Vision Hunt decree was for that. What most people don't realize is that by taking away ambition, she is keeping the country stable and locked within a status quo. That's the purpose. She wanted her country to stay the same, not progress, not regress. But stay the exact same for Eternity, because the country was at it's most stable, at least to her eyes.
Of course there was all of the corruption underneath, that we bring to light and that finally gives her the resolve to change.

The lore openly shows that the corrupt politicians and the Fatui were the actual villains of Inazuma

I agree sm about Dain being Rerir's main enemy rather than Columbina. Hoyo was playing favourite ls because why would Dain make such a grand speech about hating the sinners and then not even confront/ take revenge on them on his own?

This video deserves more views!!!

Dottore is the only well written villain in genshin but even he is lacking because the story has huge pacing issues. 6.6 was like 3 hours of yapping about their plan without actually building him up as a villain and his boss fight was so underwhelming and boring. He's a villain who kind of has a point but the narrative never tries to explain his motives.

Rerir is the potential villain, hoyo fumbled him bad, his goals and motives were well explained but then they just rushed his ending turns out he was just a pawn. 😭😭

I have high hopes for Ronova, I hope hoyo doesn't fumble her.

yup signora felt underused and she couldve had alot more on screen development

I keep forgetting you don't have a million (or more) subscribers because the content is just so peak

the villian I am most looking forward to is Pierro
he has been teased as one of the greatest figures in the Fatui ever sinchis first appearence
the mastermind behind the Fatui Harbinger
I really hope they do him justice

also what I like about genshin villians is the variaty and diversity
each of them has their own motives, none of them are just a copy of one another
some are driven by hatred, some by despair, some by madness, some are false villains or anti heroes
it's really cool to see they are not going with the same concept over and over again

also a thought about the Abyss
the Abyss itself reminds me a lot of the Will of Honkai from Honkai Impact 3rd
a hivemind, that conquers, controlls, destroys, uses humans for their own purpose (devouring them/manipulating them, in HI3rd turning them into Herrschers)
honestly the similaritiers are way too much and I am looking forward to see where this is going

really great video, looking forward to other ones!

WHAT HOW IS THERE NOT A THOUSAND COMMENTS

Dottore is the best written villain in Genshin impact, Rerir is the best written antagonist in Genshin Impact.

The reason why signora felt so one sided its due to poor/problems with development in the inazuma ark which is why the story and a few of the mechanics are felt rushed or rather "not good" which is just sad as i really wanted to see Signora's true colors or more of her motives but, at least we are still getting more "hints" call backs and animations to show she is not truly a "horrible or un remorseful being"

(And yes im a signora simp still coping on if she is ever going to be playable 😭(

Rerir is a broken man trying to be with his wife. Dottore is evil that’s confirmed on multiple story points. Most harbingers are evil and twisted after 7.0 I would even say Pierro is evil he hasn’t realized he messed up in past and just working towards another destruction of a nation of his own creation fueling a delusional Tsaritsa whose harming her people for a pipe dream. Signoria was evil there no room to argue opposite she was a written as a traditional terrorist. Capitano was a man caught in between but ultimately not evil he helped Natlan and basically quite fatui you learn he wasn’t really a believer in Tsaritsa plan for his own dialogue. Wanderer was manipulated and working to rectify past. Childe written like a battle junky idiot and doesn’t even realize he’s being manipulated even wanderer calls out how he doesn’t catch on. Sandrone is twisted in her logic but you get glimpses as she hangs with traveler she kinda changing but not there yet. Columbina left fatui she realized it wasn’t a good org and used her along with Tsaritsa but her biggest problem was how she was basically a lost child led astray until she found her way by help of traveler it seems. Arlecchino a mixed bag you learn she not fully with Tsaritsa and may battle her in future in dialogue but yet act like a lap dog doing fatui dirty work. Pulcinella is a manipulator from what we can see pushing fatui politics. Pantalone is twisted we see his biggest reason for doing what he does is mostly selfish desires to not die and because he didn’t get a vision and fact he helped Dottore destroy many lives and even attack Sumeru with Dottore. So no majority of harbingers are evil just a few had redemptive qualities.
