Where Is Minecraft ACTUALLY Blocked? (Not What You Think)

I checked all 197 countries to see where Minecraft is actually blocked in 2026 — and the real story is more interesting than a simple ban list.
⛏️ Unlike some other games, no government has ever officially banned Minecraft. But two countries are effectively locked out anyway: 🇷🇺 Russia and 🇮🇷 Iran, where Microsoft suspended and restricted its own services under international sanctions — not a decision made by the Russian or Iranian governments.
🇰🇷 South Korea gets a special mention too — from 2011 to 2021 it enforced a midnight curfew blocking ALL online games (not just Minecraft) for under-16s. That law was repealed in 2021.
🇹🇷 Turkey's Family Ministry floated a Minecraft ban proposal in 2015 over "violence" concerns — it was never enacted.
🇪🇬🇸🇦🇻🇳 Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam block "The Uncensored Library" — a real Minecraft server built by Reporters Without Borders and BlockWorks, containing 300+ banned/censored articles for journalists silenced by their home countries (it won a Peabody Award in 2022). The base game itself isn't banned in these three — just that specific server.
📊 Sourcing bearvpn.com, TheRegister.com, TechCrunch, Reporters Without Borders / "The Uncensored Library," Wikipedia — as of September 2026. Rules change fast — always check official sources before traveling or relying on access.
