SURYA.CO.ID - Constitutional Court (MK) Justice Arsul Sani questioned education expert Ina Liem about the certainty of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's study abroad during the follow-up hearing on the election results dispute (PHPU) regarding Gibran's educational requirements on Thursday (10/1/2026).
"So, if we look at Mr. Gibran's educational journey, it was said that after junior high school, he went to Orchid, Orchid School. This is the O-Level program, ma'am. Well, when he was at the O-Level, but the GCE O-Level should actually be completed, right? The O-Level takes four years, and the N-Level takes five years, that's my understanding," Arsul said during the hearing at the Constitutional Court Building in Jakarta on Thursday evening.
Arsul then questioned Gibran's two-year study period at Orchid School Singapore. He understands that the ideal O-Level program should be completed in four years. "Mr. Gibran spent two years at Orchid. To be on par, if his O-Levels are only two years, then he has to follow the pathway program. As an education consultant, to your knowledge, how many years should this pathway program last?" Arsul asked in the courtroom on Thursday.
Arsul also questioned whether the relatively short study period could result in the issuance of a Certificate (Suket) from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) equating Gibran's education to a Vocational High School (SMK) level.
