Could’ve all been easily avoided by blaming the deputy’s death on the old man. Sheriff skill issue

Being sheriff was 90% stress, 10% sweeping the saloon.

In reality the sheriff would likely claim the dead attacker killed his deputy. His own conscience may still eat at him though depending on how good a man he actually is.

What do you mean shooting the old man wasn't justice, he started the whole thing

never a better insight into humans than "your friends are arriving and they have a smile never a good sign".

$16 for 160 acres - they had it easy. 😔  That's $2500 in today's money, and about a month and a half of the pay for a soldier during the civil war.

Guy single handedly wrote a whole possible scenario for Red dead redemption 3/ Red dead revolver 2

good video

There was once a story of a black Wild West sheriff who had to face adversity to the highest degree, but was finally received after saving the great town of Rock Ridge. Mel Brooks directed a wonderful, tear jerking documentary that Titanic cannot shake a stick at... I forget the name of the film. But watching it made me a changed man.

'Why it sucked to be a Wild West sheriff'
>spins a tale about a man who did his job and had a relatively good life, but made one critical mistake and drank for the rest of his life

This is literally how it feels to be a modern police officer. You could've put this in a modern setting and had it come out worse.

This sounds like a storyline that deserves to be in a rdr game

the wild west grind in this video hits hard - from dirt houses to sheriff showdowns, it’s a brutal reminder that chasing dreams can cost everything. you build a life, fight for justice, but one mistake, one bullet, and it’s all gone. makes me think twice about taking risks without weighing what i could lose. stay sharp, hold tight to what matters.

absolutely love watching these while working my desk job

France didn’t really “get scammed” into selling the Louisiana Purchase for $15 million. France just made a couple small settlements and just claimed they owned the rest (even though they didn’t).

20 dollars was nothing to sneeze at in the late 1800’s

In short as a sheriff you had to protect the town while keeping the law in check
so it wasn't easy especially when bandits were frequent and attacks from outside groups and the possibility of a riot because the town is lacking something to keep it going

It had perks but as sheriff if you were good at keeping the peace and everything was peaceful for the most part

you are essentially at the front line every single moment of every day any and all complaints had to be enforced

poor wife she got the arthur morgan treatment

Sod houses were actually built into a prairie hillside, not as often with the sod-brick method. But yeah, sod house goes hard

"it's kill or be killed here"
I feel like i heard that somewhere before...

Cowboy in the 1800s actually meant lowlife or scum. If you called someone a cowboy It very well could have been the last insult you ever swung.
