I am so glad you made a video on this. I think it’s a fascinating strategy and haven’t  heard enough people talking about it

Black ops 3 music going hard lol

What are we doing Sandy, tacos are freaking great lol.

You know, Scherzer pitched a great game for 162 at the end of this season on short rest, and he said it felt great and like he should do it more often and now he understands how the old pitchers did it...

I think it’s a brilliant move as long as the pitcher and team have good communication. Maybe 1/2 or so of the starts, you’re available in relief on your bullpen day, then have actual bullpen days when you need to work on something or need a breather.

Gives teams an extra 40-50 innings of their best couple pitchers and can really help if the team used a lot of relievers the previous day

This strategy will change how clubs handle their starting pitching. Incredible video.

Bacher was great for my Pirates in the second half. He stepped up when the starting pitching got thin and delivered. Glad to have him on the team

Can something be increasingly ever present? I'm keeping that expression.

As a marlins fan if my GOAT dislikes tacos then Tacos are terrible

Managers have been calling pitches for rookies at both catcher and pitcher since the game began. Billy Martin, Tony LaRussa and Sparky Anderson were notorious for wanting to call pitches for ALL pitchers...this isn't a new thing

Numerous times as a broadcaster, HOF pitcher John Smoltz has said: the only way starting pitchers to learn to pitch more/have longer outings is...to pitch more/have longer outings. The Marlins seem to talking a first step towards doing that

this is how i learn Gabe Kapler is the GM for the marlins

How about they start paying players

Could there be a psychological thing to it?

The Smartlins

w vid

Jesus is God

the marlins are absolutely brilliant and i hope this becomes a regular thing

What you are describing are the Tampa Bay Rays, not the Marlins. In fact, if any team re-imagined pitching, it was the Rays who went with the "opener" strategy starting in 2018.
