I shoot 80 pound hunting bows, somehow even manage to get it drawn back in cold weather. I think if you can handle it the go for it

The key to an 80lb bow with heavy arrows making a huge difference is in kinetic energy transfer with a high FOC. Heavy weight pulling the projectile creating stability while having the momentum to carry the arrow through the target.

Full pass throughs with consistent pin spacing as an added bonus makes for deadly and predictable shooting.

I shoot 670gr arrows at 225fps on a 70lb draw reaching about 75ft-lbs of KE. The same arrow on an 80lb draw would equate to about 245fps which is almost 90ftlbs of KE! That’s a huge punch on impact!

Everyone in the back, please listen up... The weight that is most worth it when it comes to a bow, is the weight you can comfortably, and consistently pull. This includes 80lbs, if you are comfortable with it and can stay consistent... why not?

I personally am most comfortable with a 70lb bow. I can keep my consistency and can shoot it for hours on end. I can pull and 80lb bow, but its not as comfortable for me. Good content as always, love that you guys keep it unbiased. This is yet another reason why you should go to your outfitter and try everything - including the different weights!

It's absolutely worth it. I shot my first deer with an 80lb mach 34 and I couldn't be happier with the results. An 80lb bow isn't something you half ass your way into though. It's for people who are strong and want more performance with heavier arrows.

I just ordered the Sicario with 80# limbs. My reasoning is I can turn it down to 70 for light arrows for 3D and TAC, then crank it back up for hunting with my 565gr arrows and still have impressive speed. Can't wait to get it!

I shot 80 pounders for years, I was big into the gym and strong so 80 pounds felt like nothing, when I got into my 40's I bumped it down to 70lb bows and for whitetail hunting I shoot 60lbs.  Its all about shoulder preservation for me now I'm in my 50's

Would love to see the speed test on a Prime Divide 31 (7) 80lbs at 29 inches with around a 485 - 500 grain arrow.

I’ve shot a 80lb MR-6 since 2012. Now I have 2 other 70lb bows and a new bow this year in 65lb limbs. The 80lb bow is a dragster and I’ve never shot anything with it that I have not gotten a pass through on, however when it’s super cold and you’ve been in the stand for a long time that 80lbs feels like 800lbs.
If I was going on an elk or moose hunt the 80lb bow would definitely be my backup bow.
With the efficiency of today’s modern bows and the vast selection of arrows (gpi/spine) there are options that are much easier on your shoulders with a 70lb bow.
It is still pretty cool to shoot a 400 grain arrow at 340+fps or a 565 grain arrow at 300fps!

I’ve tried getting 80lb limbs from local dealers. It’s a pain in the ass. Both dealers are an hour away in both directions. Wish I could buy them online.

I think that 80 lbs. would be more compelling the shorter your draw length. The longer your draw length, the less need you have for that extra 10 lbs for North American big game animals.

EC2 cams are super smooth. The grip was the one "turn-off" that I had with the Mach's.

Im watching this  because I bought a high country at 80 lbs its let off is 50 percent. I always been a big bow man not gun nicest bow I ever had was a pse never shot it because it was illegal to shooting that town i was a single dad and sold to pay bills .the bow your shooting smooth like how fast it breaks and how smooth it shoots .I had a golden eagle light speed but put in building and when out there and string was broken what would have caused the string just to break setting but I shot for hours with it maybe I wore it out I know the 80 lb is a beast to pull back .im saving I check your store out your a real archer the way you pull the bow back classy like me love shooting all day .

I have been hunting with an Evoke 31 at 83lbs using 450gr FMJ's and fixed broadheads for a few years, the penetration is unbelievable almost every shot on 8 deer harvested have been complete pass throughs and recovered very quickly. I had no problems at all drawing the bow as I practice year round. Well life got the best of me last year and I hardly practiced at all, no time. Come deer season one night I was standing in my climber for 45 mins in 40 deg weather freezing my butt off watching a huge doe till she finally stood up and gave me a perfect broadside shot. I figured i had her in the bag, went to draw back and for the life of me I absolutely could not draw the bow back! She saw me struggling and took off 🤣. I did get a buck a few days later but i will for sure be doing more pre season practice this year, I love my 80+ pounders!

I love 80# Bows and more. I shoot an Oneida Phönix with 83# and 810 grain arrows. My Speed is 230 FPS.

I remember back in the day, I used to shoot a Mach 4, set at 90lbs. I think it was PSE first cam bow. It was very fast, if you can sit in a chair with ur feet off the ground and pull it back with no problem. You were good to go, it wasn't as forgiving as my 1st bow. A PSE Pulsar, later a PSE Stratos. I've shot them all before the 2000s the Magna flight was very forgiving, but very long. Last bow I bought was a PSE Magma, that was probably my favorite bow out of them all. IDK what a New PSE Mach 35 cost, but that's what id like to get now. It's just costly nowadays on a fixed income. I'm sure a Mach 35 shoots faster at 70lbs, then a Mach 4 or the Nitro or magma. Maybe someday I'll be able to afford the Mach 35, I have a 31½ inch draw. So my choice is limited 🎉

Im 50 years old and I just bought a Mach 35 and I absolutely love it ! It holds rock solid and it's completely dead in hand. The draw cycle is the smoothest and quietest I've ever felt and I'm shooting a 425 grain total weight victory VAP SS  and I'm getting 314 fps at 70 pounds and a 29 inch draw. I only wish PSE didn't discontinue the E-2 cam's like I have on my FORTIS 33. The E-2 cam's felt easier to draw and are slightly faster also 👍.
