Not heroically. Just stubbornly. And with varying degrees of failure and success.

Left my job today. Health care person. Age 63. I've been "awake" since I was small child. Made it through an abusive childhood. Always knew the world around me was fucked up. Introverted. Appreciate your vids so much❤

Age 18-19 in 1988, my step-grandpa died. He had been an orphan during the great depression, went to serve in WWII, lost an eye, had a glass eye. Worked in a shoe factory and retired in 1987. Then he died in his sleep. Before he got to enjoy life. The man was a saint and a kind soul who treated our family well. It never left me, the way the world uses people.

I'm a retired EMT with 30 years in the job. Functioning alcoholic for most of those years. Abused as a child.
6 years sober next week and still alive. Just diagnosed with ADHD.
I'm so glad there are individuals like you who get it.

As someone who "burned out" 8 years ago and still feels like I'm hobbling along struggling to figure out how to exist in this world in a way that doesn't destroy me, this really resonated. You've managed to succinctly articulate the dilemma in way that I never could. Thank you.

Apathy. That is my world these days. I work two jobs because I must post divorce, which said marriage also died due to pure trauma induced apathy. Even the news is mind numbing. I wonder what the point is at all. So me and my faithful dog exist for each other and have our quiet joys while the madness ensues around us. I really want a cabin in the woods with quiet and no responsibilities, a small garden and peace.
