Customer service is killing me.

This is why I'm always respectful to retail and restaurant workers.

Working in retail made me hate people so much

The biggest mistake I've made in retail is expecting the store to run with common sense

I worked retial for 7 years. One thing I've learned: Hard work is never recognized. It is punished with more work.

Companies logic: sitting is lazy but calling in “sick” 30x a year is not. Having too much employees loses money but refundung almost empty cookie boxes doesn’t.

one thing i’ve always noticed at retail, managers always pick and love their favorites

I worked at a grocery store and got the "do you want to be a night manager?" Which I did take and instantly regretted it. They give you keys to the store, put you in charge of shipping and receiving at nights and have to manage the grocery clerks. All those extra responsibilities for an extra dollar. What pissed me off most was the other actual managers receiving all the credit when the boss comes in the morning. No thank you, no pay raise, no nothing.

Worst part of working retail is the longer you work in retail, the more likely to do it the rest of your life. You got to get in and get out quick!

Not gonna lie, them toxic supervisors/managers would've got the wetwork from me

Working in retail turned me from energetic and positive person to miserable one.

When you said how managers often are harshest to good honest workers, and even lash out on them over the more lazy ones - that hit hard. Reminds me of how bullies target the weaker kids (I’m not saying good workers are weaker), Or even how emotional abuse can take place in a relationship if a person is too agreeable and the other isn’t.
It just shows that some people don’t mature that far beyond some schoolyard mentality.

My son worked retail for six years too, used the money for college and got a great tech job paying 6x more. I agree with everything you’ve saying!

Imagine getting brutally beaten up by a employee or a rude customer every day coming home crying full tears due to small mistake btw this is extremely common in US, South America, Canada, UK and western Europe

ive worked retail management since i was 22 years old and im currently 35. i cant even begin to describe the amount of horror stories about shitty managers, terrible dogshit coworkers, rude customers and it goes on and on. it really makes you think about how worthless humanity is

i feel you on the standing thing dude, i'm a gas station cashier, and they don't let us sit at the cash registers on our 12 hour day shifts, it's a miracle if we get to sit for 10 minutes one or 2 times a day cuz we also don't have lunch breaks, these companies do not want human workers, they want robots

I hope when GTA 6 comes out this guy makes videos that get millions of views. He’s a genuine guy.

I worked in retail from 17-26, it took me from an enthusiastic, positive, young man into a jaded, cynical, antisocial person. It’s all because of the same things you’ve discussed.

I remember working as a pharmacy technician and the district manager had cut every store’s pharmacy hours. This put tons of stress on every store and the pharmacy staff. Customer service and productivity went down. He did this so he could get a bigger bonus at the end of the year.

retail is just the worst, I had a manager who was so horrible to the staff that multiple times customers would step in and say you can't talk to them like that and have a go at her but she didn't care you'd get treated like you're not even a person

Don't poop where you eat, Don't eat where you sleep. Just saying you will lose more often than win making friends at work. But I did meet the love of my life at work. It is a good place to see someone's real character.
