What a great channel this is. Would love to see some of Dougs matches from 1985 when he reached the final beating Knowles, Meo and Griffiths before losing out to Thorburn.

This was a great watch, and surprisingly they went live during the last frame and stayed with it. The beeb had a habit of leaving matches at crucial stages back in the day. Davis was the current holder of the trophy in this match v Doug. The following year the current champion Cliff Thorburn suffered a similar fate when he led John Spencer 4-1 but ended up losing 4-5.

Nice upload
One of the most classic matches was Davis vs Thorburn in the 1981 world semi. I have not seen any footage of that since it was actually shown back in 81
it rarely even gets a mention

Thanks for this. Like gold dust. I'm looking for the other qtr final between Reardon and White. That would be great to watch again.

Thank you WEBFAX for this upload. Around this time Steve had started visiting Frank Callan and your upload shows the first few "tweaks" that Frank had made to Steve's technique. Steve has a more pronounced bend in his bridge arm and his bridge hand is a little closer to the cue ball.

Thanks for these great uploads WEBFAX. Been keen to see this match for a while now and really enjoyed it even though the Friday night Wembey throngs weren't as boisterous in those days. Steve himself seems to have fond memories of this match despite losing as he's made mention of it on 2 or 3 occasions in recent times whilst reminiscing about the old Conference Centre.

great stuff

Amazing how in the olden days the players managed to pot anything while the table was fidgeting up and down. Anyway, good to see John Smyth officiating.

This was and has still not been surpassed as the greatest ever venue to watch snooker. A Friday or Sat night session white , Higgins, Reardon, Davis, OSullivan all had big followings. Electric. Once it went to the arena it went down hill. I went to the arena once and then packed it in.

Two of my favourite players, head-to-head, so I'm not even going to complain about the wonky picture. Thanks!

Hi. Many thanks for the upload. It's nice to have you back webfax.

Can you tell me, do you have a recording of Doug v Alex Higgins, 1984 B&H Masters last 16, & Doug v Alex Higgins 1982 World Championship, last 16, as there is so little footage of their encounter that year at the 82 Championship?

I am an admirer of both players, and it would be nice to see more of these two, aside from what is already available online, which is limited.

Many thanks

Presented by the son of god!

cant beleve he refused to pot pink put blue safe .better we extra points though

A rare occasion when Doug didn't throw in the towel against Steve Davis

Doug why not just roll in the green or pink on that last red game would have been dead

thourburn won it i think

Did Doug ever win an event? 🤔, apart from pot black

The standard of professional Snooker has improved significantly in this century compared to the standard of the 80's to the point where the likes of Doug Mountjoy, Bill Werbenuik, Dennis Taylor, Dene O'Cane, Peter Fransico and Salvino Fransisco would be considered average club players against today's professionals

I was going to say, everybody saying great upload but its unwatchable unless you have parkinsons

Crap quality 😮
