Crazy to think that there are many ancient cities that have been completely abandoned today, and then there are cities that just very recently sprang up from nothing like Dubai.
one thing I should mention is that the first caption in the video is oversimplified. Dubai existed long before 1820. what happened is, after it signed the 1820 peace treaty with the British, trade improved. it was a catalyst. later some rich people moved there and the town started growing even faster
I never realised just how quickly Dubai grew, imagine within your lifetime your city grows from being the size of wichita, kansas or something up to almost 5 million people, in only like 50 years. really great stuff man, i love your work :)
I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos due to my random interest in geography and the development of cities. I feel like New York City due to it being the most famous city, Miami due to its boost from 300 to 6 million metro wise , or Moscow due to its history and stunning architecture, would be very interesting to say the least.
Hi ! I love your Channel, It's cool to see a Human Made Timelapse among the IA slops that often makes Historic mistakes in buildings and all, at least this channel makes it simple and I love it <3 Keep up the good work ! and if you take suggestions, I'd love to see a timelapse of the Caribbean developpement from different perspectives like Nassau, Havanna or Kingston, it would be cool to see how it evolved through the ages. (Yes, I got sucked into Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and I crave more)
Please do Berlin! It has a maybe relatively short but interesting history. From the twin cities Cölln and Berlin to the inclusion of the surrounding villages, to becoming capitol, being divided and reunited.
Do Chicago next , the population grew rapidly between the 1820s-1850s then the fire happened in the 1870s and grew to a million people within a decade. Chicago grew insanely fast
This video is amazing, didn't know that Dubai's history stretches farther... I just thought they found a random spot in the desert in the 1950s and began urbanizing
