Lost My Job at 45 Years Old and I Don't even Care

lost my job at 45 years old.

And I don't care.

Not because it wasn't a blow. Not because I don't need money. But because somewhere in the middle of it all, I realised something that changed everything — and it might change things for you too.

In this video I'm getting honest about what happened, how it felt, and why losing that job might actually be the first real win I've had in years. This isn't a "just think positive" speech. It's the truth about hitting a wall at midlife and deciding to stop letting the world tell you what your life is supposed to look like.

If you're feeling stuck, invisible, or like you've been quietly drifting — this one's for you.

When I had a performance meeting at my last job I was told they would be letting me go. It wasn’t really a worry for me either, I was working long ass hours and felt underpaid and overworked and never really valued. Luckily for me I’ve always had savings to fall back onto, I’m not a heavy spender and don’t have the responsibility of children etc. I remember my first day off and just looking out my bedroom window seeing all the rush hour traffic going by and thinking I’m finally out the rat race for the time being. Time off to recharge is so important. They probably done you a favour! I hope you do find something else though buddy, hopefully day work too!

Worked night shift at factory for 6 years, then one day I got told people where layed off and I was one of them. It was strange feeling, I felt free.

I hope for your mental health, you’ll be able to take a break before you have to get back to the grind. I wish the best for you brother.

As a telecom engineer (contractor) in the uk, i had similar feelings last week, when mon and tues I received no work. Got some stupid excuses saying there was planning issues. Only got a small amount of work the rest of the week and alongside poor treatment, I just wasn't bothered. Stopped fighting for work and if I get work great, if not I'll figure something else out. Have started this week to look at other opportunities I can do as was made abundantly clear that no matter how long your with a company they'll forget you exist when it suits them.

Enjoy your break pal and have a great holiday

I hear you buddy. Sounds like you’re going about it the right way sometimes it’s a blessing in disguise when you’re forced to do something sometimes it’s for the best keep going!!! Chad crew let’s go💪💪💪💪💪

This is all by design for you to feel this way. They want the peasants on universal basic income sitting at home depressed with a digital ID watching TV while a.i slowly takes peoples jobs.

I work in healthcare. I think we facilitate this process by patching people up and throwing them back out into this merciless world.

Its a blessing, my brother was working overnight and i felt he was 1-2 days away from dying, i ended up helping him with his expenses for few months, later he revealed to me all the health problems he had while working nightshift and then came to conclusion my hunch was right.

I'm in your age range too, and I quit my job last year. Now in college again, changing career. I just couldn't. It was killing me slowly.
All the best, God bless you and your family ❤

Imagine how you'd feel if the phone then rang and your employer said "actually, we think you're someone we don't want to lose so your job remains open to you". Gutted.

This will give you a chance to find day time hour job. You got tons of experience you’d definitely should be able to get one. Also, I can’t believe how much your fasting worked and so quickly. Looking really good.

Did the 12 hour rotating shift thing for years, into my late 40s. Best thing ever was when that job ended. Never again.

Lost my job at 38. Was a great job in a care home. I spent all my wages at the end of each month. I think when you have had the best job around not the pay but the place and people itself it is very hard to find another job with any enthusiasm.
