Great video, Michael

I loved the latest video and it poured fuel on my passion to do this. I agree with all of your points. I always enjoy seeing the old footage of Bambola and thank you so much for the shoutout. See you in the Caribbean.

So happy I have a seen a night sky like that or I wouldn't believe it 5:05 PS excellently put, the sky almost white w stars. (My experience was on land however, the Sinai)

Thanks for the GGR recommendation. As I recall, Pat and Guy deBoer are both 70 years old in GGR now. Cheers.

I consider Blue water cruising, as Luxury camping, but without all the luxuries, No washing machine, No air conditioning. No coffee makers, or bread makers, my simple philosophy is, if you want to live life in a condo, Go and live in a Condo, that is not what a blue water sailboat is!

Pity the GGR changed their start point from Uk to France. That Southern ocean is a crazy place, even in the simulator "Sailaway" the waves in the roaring forties,  and raging fifties are insane, let alone the screamong sixties.

How would you Rate the Contest 33 in that list of solid layed  up older boats?

The one aspect about the golden globe race that I don't think is right is their insistence on not accepting improved equipment. AIS, radar and satellite communications, as well as GPS have helped greatly towards improving the safety at sea. The sea now is also quite a bit different than it was back then, with a lot more vessels in the way and changed weather systems. By insisting on old-style equipment, they're setting themselves up for unnecessary increases in risk for .... nostalgia?

Sorry to correct you, but Mara Loevenskiold Kveseth is Norwegian. We don't take easy when a Norwegian is called Swedish or Finish. Like Irish/English/ Scottish/Welsh and so on. In need of a steady blue water cruiser? When I die (I am 80 now), you can have mine. Just some patience and you are off..
