Muslim Lantern Shakes Young Christian’s Faith… So He Comes for Answers

A young Christian joins the conversation after speaking with Muslim Lantern and says the discussion left him seriously questioning Christianity and considering Islam. One of the main arguments that shook him involved the sign of Jonah and whether Jesus’ words about Jonah and the whale really point to His death and resurrection.

In this conversation, the argument is broken down carefully to see whether the Muslim objection actually works and whether the sign of Jonah is consistent with the Christian understanding of Jesus’ crucifixion, burial, and resurrection.

This is an important discussion for Christians, Muslims, and anyone comparing Islam and Christianity and asking which view of Jesus best fits the evidence.

Topics discussed:
Jonah and the whale
The sign of Jonah
Jesus’ death and resurrection
Christianity vs Islam
Muslim objections to the Bible
Muslim Lantern
Christian apologetics
Islamic apologetics
The crucifixion of Jesus
Young Christian questioning his faith

It's funny how the story of the woman caught in adultery was "added" to the Gospel yet it's universally accepted by Christianity while "stronger" stories about baby Jesus talking in the cradle to defend his mother and Jesus creating a living bird out of clay were solidly and universally rejected by Christianity. It really tells you the integrity of the early followers of Christ, fake stories don't have a place in the Bible.

And that's why the scriptures were written to them using the language, terminology and meanings of their day, they would understand. Trying to shoehorn modern day meanings can easily cause doubt, errors of understanding, etc.

Where is the third night? Matthew 12:40 says “three days and three nights,” yet Friday burial to Sunday morning gives only Friday night and Saturday night. A hotel stay from Friday to Sunday touches three dates—but costs two nights.

Christians answer that this is inclusive counting, citing Esther 4:16–5:1 and Matthew’s “on the third day” wording. That is a serious response, but it makes the fulfillment depend on an idiomatic reading rather than three actual nights.

The arithmetic is clear; the interpretation is disputed. If the timing is literal, the traditional chronology falls short. If it is idiomatic, that interpretation needs defending. This challenges the chronology; it does not, by itself, prove Jesus survived crucifixion.

It’s believed that legends, possibly true, like the woman caught in adultery, were included in the Bible because they were theologically consistent with Jesus Christ, that is, with the way he would have responded.

Sorry Brother Avery, but I MUST interject. The day the Lord was put into the grave was Wednesday afternoon as the sun was setting in order to begin 1) passover which is a Sabbath day, 2) the first night in the tomb, 3) the begining of the next day because since GENESIS "the evening and the morning where the fist/second/third day"

Then if you count 2 more evenings with 3 daylight times in between them, you get out of the tomb on Saturday night, which is the feast of FIRST FRUITS, which the Lord also IS.

THIS IS WHY WE HAVE TO TAKE THE LAW OF YAH SERIOUSLY. Some think they are eating meat and it's still veggies. Not milk, but not steak. P.s. just because He rose on the biblical 1st day of the week, does not erase or replace Sabbath rest. We are free from sin to keep His laws, not to do as we will with some Jesus sprinkled on it. "Depart from Me, I never knew you, you who practice lawlessness" " not one jot or one title" I just read and obey.

The Jewish day begins at sundown and not sunrise. This is why the Sabbath starts at sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday. After the crucifixion, Jesus was put into the tomb before sundown on Friday in keep with the sabbath. They could do no work after sundown because this started the sabbath, because at sundown the new day starts (the Sabbath) which goes to Sundown Saturday, then at sundown on Saturday starts the new day and goes to sundown on Sunday. So you have Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The christianity didn't destroy paganism, instead it was adopted by the trinity godhead as the basic its faiths , it proves that the christianity is the truly pagan beliefs !!
