I just sent this video to my 22 year old  son who just bought his first bike. It’s a Hunter 350 that he loved till someone told him it was too small. Ride what makes you happy. Smiles per mile is the only thing that matters.

This is all so true. Just ride the bike that makes you happy. As I've got older, I appreciate simpler machines.

I listened patiently and feel rewarded. I hope one realizes this isn't really about bikes only .... it 's bit of a reflection of what we all become ... eventually.

I bought a Harley Davidson Ultra Classic 3 years ago...
I love 3 day rides to different locations...

Your story is like mine. When i move to USA from India my Dad sold my Yamaha Rx 100. On that day i cried. Now i bought 3 motorcycles in USA one is Royal Enfield Continental and i really like  t like Yamaha RX 100. And i gifted a 125cc Dirt bike to my 12 years old son on his birthday. Hats off to you sir really appreciate  you for sharing your story with us. you should tag #Royal Enfield Continental GT. I never seen such a emotional video or story  towards motorcycles.

you got the sweet spot not just in finding your bike..but also in finding what your content is in this world of content overkill is where everyone talks a lot on Youtube and yet have no standpoint! So good to see...and Im a fan kind sir! cheers from India

Absolutely LOVE listening to stories from “back in my day”!! Watching this made me feel like having a bbq with my dad and he’s on his second Jonnie Walker.

Miss you dad ❤
RIP

Yep! I got an Interceptor when I was 63 years old after being off a bike for 21 years. A complete joy, it's like somebody designed a bike for an 18 year old me!

I really enjoy your videos. As a fellow RE enthusiast I can really appreciate your enthusiasm 😃 I have a 2005 iron barrel Bullet 500 and a 2021 Classic 500. There is something very special about Royal Enfields they have a lot of heart. Keep riding, keep enjoying and most importantly stay upright. All the best from Tasmania Australia

In my 60s i bought a bike different from all my past 750 - 1100cc.
I bought a 2025 kawasaki eliminator 500. Best and most fun ride of my life.
Black on black my favorite colors.

I'm a newer rider and 19 years old, I've been riding my grandpa's RE Himi for my entire time riding. Lately though I've been trying out other bikes, from sports bikes to classic bikes, to cruisers, to adventure bikes, all great bikes, all interesting to ride but I went to the same dealership that sold my grandpa his Himi to try out a bike I saw before. It was this bike, I went and rode it around the nearby area to kind of get a feel on it and honestly loved it, so much so when I forgot my license at the dealership I went back and asked if I could ride it again since I was there and my ride home was like thirty minutes. They let me have another go at it and went to some nearby mountain twisties to really test it. I found that feel of the bike was amazing, sure it's not as fast or nimble as say a full-blooded sports bike, or nearly as comfy as a cruiser with swept handlebars for the most ergonomic position ever. I'm not one for speed, sure it's fun but I'll never end up using that power a lot of the time and something that can get me through corners at a fun pace is all I need. Being comfortable is great, but I could care less when I'm bopping around town and doing the occasional 2-3, maybe even 5 hour trip(though I will admit that going downhill does do a number on my wrists). Overall, out of all the bikes, I found that the bike was all I needed in something, and the idea of having the bare minimum under me is honestly rather exciting when I'm pushing past seventy through twistees.
The only thing I would change would be the brakes, too squishy for me to feel safe while riding at highspeeds.

I thoroughly enjoyed that , mirrored my life from the other side of the pond . I'm from England back in 77 walked into a dealer bought a rd 250 , in America think it was the fz? Had that till I past my test then bought my first big bike triumph trident 750 , moved from that to a bonifield,  that's when the  love /hate relationship stated ! Over the years had everything like you chasing power , image . and here i am , aged 65 on my interceptor loving life.  This bike will go to my grave love it . Always said all you need for the road is 2 cylinders , all about the torque...oh and when you walk away look round and yeh that's my bike ! All the best from England

New sub here. Really enjoyed your story over here in the cold and damp UK.

I myself have been going through the process of determining what I really want from my motorcycling. Over the past decade, I've noticed the roads where I live are getting fuller and fuller of traffic to the point it's destroying the enjoyment of my bigger sports bikes. On the other hand, when I get out on the quieter lanes with my smaller, much less powerful, 1982 Kawasaki KZ750 Twin (imported from US) I come home feeling happy and relaxed. I'm currently getting a 1956 Matchless G3LS ready for the local roads too.

I do feel I will change my two sports bikes for a 'something special' bike at some point. So thank you for sharing the process you went through in choosing your special bike. And you are right, you do stop looking when you have the bike that 'feels right' for you. I've only been looking, and watching loads of YouTube videos because my sports bikes no longer feel right for me. Fortunately I'm not in a rush, and will continue to work out what I really would like....

25 yr rider here with lots of bikes through the years. This is relatable in so many ways. Stay safe.

Sir, it cannot be said better. I exactly feel the same about my GT and the race to always faster, better…
The RE brings a lot of people back to what biking and riding really is.
And it doesn’t ever stop doing that.
It is indeed a machine very worthy giving one his last ride and in style😊.
Before it gets handed over to a new generation, not sold, handed over.
It is in my 40 years riding, the most lovely and spectacular bike ever.

I do think mr. Sidarta Lal is a genius 😊

Very good story love the way you are telling it in very calm and relaxed way.

I could listen to you all day long you make so much sense. All the best Chris from the UK.

I have been riding for 50 years, since age 16. I have a 2013 Royal Enfield Classic 500, which I converted from EFI to a carburetor. It also has an aftermarket exhaust. So far I have put just over 21,000 miles on it. I can't ride the Continental GT, because the bars are too low, and the pegs are too high and too far back. I need a bike I can sit completely upright on, with my knees at a 90 degrees and a good bend in my elbows. I need almost all of my weight supported by the seat. Trying to ride a bike with low bars just kills my arms, shoulders and neck, and high rearset pegs does the same thing to my legs. I have owned 37 bikes so far, and currently still have 5 of them. I won't likely be buying anymore. Most of them have been cruisers, with a couple of standards, 2 Goldwings, and 4 dual sport bikes. I love the riding position on older cruisers with forward pegs and pullback bars. I have never owned a "sport" type bike, even when I was young. My first brand new bike was a 1980 Suzuki GS450L. The cruiser version of the GS450. I immediately fell in love with cruisers. I loved the look, the comfort, and the fact that you could load a lot of stuff on them. I put 40,000 mostly highway miles on that bike. Long distance highway riding became my favorite type of riding, and still is.

The looks of a bike are extremely important to me. It has to be something I can be proud of. Something I turn around and look at after getting off and walking away. It has to be bright and shiny. No flat black, no matte paint. I want bright shiny paint, with lots of bright aluminum and chrome. The one big turnoff to me with the Janus 250 is the flat black engine and black rims. Nobody seems to make non flat black bikes anymore. The new Royal Enfield Classic 650 in that teal color definitely caught my eye, but it is not yet available in the U.S., and would likely be well over $10K if it was. At my age and in my condition, buying a new $10,000 bike just doesn't make sense.

I'd have to say that my all time favorite bike out of all the bikes I've owned was the Kawasaki Vulcan 750. I have had 2 new ones, wore them both out, and now have one I bought used after they quit making new ones. I have over 230,000 miles on Kawasaki Vulcan 750s. Plenty fast, the most comfortable bike I've ever owned, and they just felt right. The riding position was perfect. They were made completely unchanged from 1985-2006. If they still made new ones, that is the one bike I would seriously consider buying new.

We have a lot in common even though we’ve chosen different motorcycles for our last one.
I’m 64 years old and I’m on my second year of returning to riding after a 10 year hiatus because of a traumatic brain injury. Yes, life is very short and I’m trying to enjoy as much riding as possible. I do love the sound of your bike!
I appreciate your videos!

It might not replace my 73 850 Commando, but it's one hell of a bike, affordable and affordably upgradable and you don't need an engineering degree to work on one. Easily upgrade the suspension and a lighter weignt 2 into one exhaust. It's a winner on 2 lane blacktop, even riding through the Smokies from eastern Tennessee into western North Carolina on one of the twistiest roads in the south eastern US. It handled great. It had less stops for gas than my snortin' Norton with the Commando's smaller roadster tank and highly tuned engine (20 over with the head milled 125/1000) and 2 Amal right handed 1040 carbs. Parallel twins are my favorite sounding motorcycle engines. Vibrations be damned.
