Sometimes the best adventures start with a simple invitation — and this one certainly did!
I was recently invited by a local Carnarvon legend, Gil, to head out on a very special mission: hunt and catch mud crabs at a secret spot somewhere around Carnarvon, Western Australia. Of course, when an invitation involves mud crabs, the answer was never going to be no!
What started as an invitation to go searching for these impressive crabs quickly turned into a full-blown Carnarvon mud crab adventure, with plenty of anticipation about what we might find. The location remains a secret — and that's exactly how we're going to keep it! 🤫🦀
In this video, I join Gil as we head out into the Carnarvon surrounds to see if we can locate some quality mud crabs. There's nothing quite like the excitement of not knowing what you're going to find when you arrive at a secret fishing or crabbing spot.
And the adventure didn't finish once the crabs were caught!
Back home, the catch became the star of the show as my wife created a sauce to die for.,then the cook-up.of freshly caught mud crab,— it doesn't get much better than that!
This is one of those videos that really captures what I love about living in Carnarvon. It's not just about the fishing, crabbing or catching something for dinner. It's about the people you meet, the invitations you receive, discovering places around the Gascoyne and sharing a great day with locals.
