living with an active addict that does not want help is absolute hell :(

1 out of 4 is a lot! It seems to me addicts in recovery cannot understand how their behaviors and engagement affect others. I just got out of a short "situationship" because as any illness gets active...too many ups and downs for a regular person and my goal is to aim for a balanced life. I wish drugs wouldn't exist. 🙏 All the best for those battling with this situation.

This guy is speaking the truth

This is extremely helpful! Thank you very much for all the information and putting it in a way that gives us addicts a sense of forgiveness, empathy and hope. 🙏💚

"indifference" is   what i feel from my boyfriend  when he has the flatness.

I really enjoyed watching and listening to this. Makes sense to me. Thank You !!

I've been arguing with my partner's "flatness" for months not realizing that he has actually relapsed. I have felt that he feels very limited pleasure in participating in our relationship and it killed me. I met him when he was clean and my goodness, the difference between his recovering and relapsing brain is heartbreaking... This entire presentation is spot on.

Thank you for sharing from a scientific understanding, it is a great addition to my recovery. Along side a spiritual understanding this makes a great tool for many addicts and families in recovery.

I wish you focused equally on alcohol in this presentation as you did with cocaine or meth. Could you make a video of the same format about alcoholism?

Very very good information, communicated in an effective and understandable way. It really helps understanding my partner, understanding myself, our relationship and even more important it helps me stay sober. This might sound quite blunt, but it really is the most important thing to stay sober. I want to add a very important point: Any person who needs to address an addiction has to be genuinely willing to do so. Thanks for the video!

great, tnx

Good topic 👍

love your humanity, friendliness and infinite smile! Everybody can feel how much you enjoy this!

Hello!
Is there a worksheet/info. packet of sorts that summarizes the information given in this video? I am a BH Therapist, just finished this video with my group and I'd like to give them something visual but don't want to re-invent the wheel if there is one already :)

My boyfriend is now substituted by taking subutex- so his dopamin - Level stays high all the time - he has no cravings and Depression. We have a very open and fulfilling Relationship -but I guess he will have to be substituted the Rest of his live. He had been sober for almost ten years, but it had been a constant Fight and struggle with cravings and depression. So it was not possible to reprogram his brain..despite of the comitted and fulfilling Relationship with me...I think that his Nervous System had been damaged throughout his childhood due to several traumata

Is it common for recovering addicts to  leave their relationship with their significant other after getting sober? My relationship was12yrs. After being in recovery for 7 months he leaves me for another recovering addict he met in rehab. He claims to wanting to be with her and help raise a baby she is currently carrying from a previous relationship. What is this behavior? What part of the brain in running his bad decision making. Or is this ok he found someone else he can have a better relationship with. I have done al anon, coda. But still need a better understanding. Thank you.

What do you do when your loved one is a recovering addict (5 years clean) and he feels like he’s losing himself and feels trapped in the relationship and pushes me away? I was so supportive and compassionate but he didn’t want to open up to me about what he was really feeling. He started feeling bad since Covid-19 and he got laid off and wasn’t attending NA meetings for a few months. So my fiancé broke up with me 3 weeks ago because he said he just can’t be in a relationship with anybody right now. And of course NOW he’s doing 90 NA meetings in 90 days. I just wish we could go through this together. I love him and he claims he didn’t fall out of love with me either. So why did he break up with me? Is being alone really healthier for a recovering drug addict? Why won’t he let me love him?

My wife and I are crack addicts. We always smoke together. We get along great. We travel.  We scubadive. Good jobs.
