Joe Callahan had the whole thing planned. The books, the articles, the sketches in the notebook. He just didn't get the time. Eight years later, his wife Margaret picked up the notebooks and decided to build the guitars herself.

Body:
Margaret Callahan was fifty-eight years old when her husband died, eight months before his retirement. She found his guitar-building notebooks while going through his things. She read the margin notes — walnut is underrated. She signed up for a woodworking class. Four years and fifteen guitars later, she brought a walnut-backed dreadnought to a luthier show in Asbury Park. It sat unsold through winter and spring. In June, a man in a dark shirt picked it up, played it for five minutes, and said: I've never heard a walnut-backed dreadnought sound like this. He bought it. He said: your husband planned it and you built it. Both of you made it. This is the story of what happened after that.
