A few notes about the debated year in Scream 2:

The ticket date in the theatre:
That would have to be STAB's production date [April 12th, 1997] - not the actual date.
If this was the actual in-universe date it would be impossible for Sidney's timeline as she is practicing for her end of the year opening play for college which opens on a Sunday. Also Maureen states Sandra Bullock is playing down the street. The only movie Sandra had in 97' was SPEED 2 which was released 2 months after her and Phil was already deceased. So they have to be talking about her movie Hope Floats in 98'. Also in ACT 3 Nancy Loomis states Cotton was in prison for a year which would have placed his release late 96'. Gale and Cotton are looking to interview about the events of two years ago. Dewey references Gale's second book The Woodsboro Murders, which is commonly speculated to have released in early 97'. If they say this book was "last year" that still makes this film in 98'.

I can keep going - but I won't argue if people still debate 1997. But there's more evidence that backs 98', than 97, but at the end of the day - the timeline is still capital F'd.

Enjoy. See you in the next one!

That’s why the reveal was so stupid. There’s no way anyone wouldn’t know Richie’s family, especially after what he did.

"The Shrine" was definitely made to be nostalgia for fans & overcompensate the missing of Sidney

There’s no way you’re in law enforcement and your kid becomes a copycat serial killer without someone in the media or the internet bringing it up.

Quinn couldn't kill them in their sleep. Vengeance isn't vengeance if the victims don't know or suffer.

Ghostface has had a better experience in New York City that Jason Vorhees.

Honestly Richie wasn't an astranged kid, so the cops entire department would be aware that his son was a former ghostface killer, yet it's played off as no one knew 😂

Yes, what a good way to start off the new year

Quinn “dead body” plan would’ve never worked. Dead bodies at crime scenes go through autopsies, medical examinations, DNA identification, etc. No way Quinn could just swap the body after the fact and no one cares to follow up

I never noticed ghostface looking at mindy through the window before, but as for tara being an older freshman some people dont go to college right out of high school (if at all) its not a requirement to go straight there. This 10 things series has me rewatching movies looking for new things. Good stuff happy new years.

I think there is debate about scream 2 because the “couple years ago” reference was vague, and because when Gale said the last 2 years, she could’ve been referencing two things. 2 years since the scream murders, or two years since it all started (Sidney’s mother’s murder). If it’s the latter, that would make it a year since scream and two years since maureen’s murder. I think that timeline fits better anyway I mean come on, we know Sidney is a freshman. Freshman are who rush sororities usually. That is why the timeline is debated for scream 2 in my opinion.

Doppelgänger in first Scream. Billy says he was watching The Exorcist, later in the same film Linda Blair appears as a reporter in a cameo role

The messed up timeline I believe they wanted these films to be current with in theater release & Mindy was like Hallie approached to be a killer but Scrapped & left in as redhairing

In early versions of the scripts richies family killed the mom of the family because she didn't want to go along with the plan.

Yeah.... saying Kirby & sam being in high school together always made no sense to me lol.

The shrine is beyond ridiculous...

The fucking garage door?!?

The bit about the evidence deserves a Cult of Chucky like crashout.

I thought her dad could easily cover up the Quinn not Quinn thing. Or at least that's sussposed to be implied.

I will never understand how all the ghost face in every single movie have the same exact voice changer and how they do exactly what all the ghosts face sounded like. How did they know to buy the exact ghostface voice box? How did they know what ghostface would say I mean I get they have the same voice guy doing it for every movie which is cool and all but at the same time makes you wonder where are they going to buy this voice box changer. If they checked on Amazon and saw that people were buying it in that area they could pinpoint who the killer is right because I'm sure a lot of people aren't buying that voice changer.
