Personally I think giving the Pyramid of Light the Sarcophogus treatment would be a good idea

If they ever made more cards for this archetype, I wonder if they would turn Anubis’s “true” monster form, which we saw at the end, into a new boss monster. Lately they are turning a lot of manga and anime scenes into cards, so who knows.

Also Fallout is such a ridiculous card and I love it for that.

Honestly, there is something comedic about how 4Kids said the movie is a good idea and the people in charge of the japanese side of the anime agreed so much to the point that not only did it get the extended JP dub, but it both got the "Duel Monsters" branding(officially making it part of the JP series) and it also got the novelization that never even released in the west.

...And Konami literally just didn't give the slightest. It does genuinely feel like they were obligated to print the cards and then they discarded the idea entirely after the promotional time period ended.

Ahh a new video makes the day better. With the likes of Javelin Beetle getting a update i wonder how many cards from that time are left until they have to update the likes of Anubis and Black Scorpions just for the fact that they updated everything else from that time?

This archetype pretty much carried me trough Tag Force 1. It was so easy to pull and so easy to use compared to everything else in that game. I really want to see some retrains and new cards, and I don't think it's out of question, since Konami revisits almost everything. The stars just need to align for it. Also, it for sure has more chance for support than gemini monsters...

Also if they do get a update i would personally like if it gets connected in some way to cards like Judgement of Anubis,Criosphinx,Hieracosphinx or Guardian Sphinx

I don't know about an XYZ retrain, but it would make perfect sense to give the Boss a Fusion Monster retrain similar to DMOD or Blue Eyes Twin Burst, doing basically the same thing while being more on-theme

Wow, it's been 22 years already...I still vividly remember seeing the commercials and trailers for Pyramid of Light during the summer of 2004. Despite the movie, this is an archetype/series that I would've completely forgotten about if not for two things:

The time I traded a misprint MFC Dark Paladin for all 3 Sphinxs and PoL (dumbest trade I ever made)

In 2024 I used the Sphinxs in a Nemleria deck.

Honestly just some smaller sphynx mosnters that can stall while pyramid of light is out or put thenian back into your deck incase your opponent only just barely counters you would be good just so you can have more options. Performopal has enough cards to make 5 different decks with no duplicates so some pendulum sphynxs and monsters that give extra effects from the grave shouldn’t be too much to ask

It's boring, but the Field Spell™ that places Pyramid of Light on the field upon activation would be the most sensible way to do it. Since the Sphinxes cannot be special summoned from the grave, the field could also add someway to retrieve them back to the hand. Not mandatory, but Cherry from the tagforce games it's a dedicated Sphinx player in most of her iterations, and she runs them alongside a rat/beast toolbox deck, so seeing a nod to that in making the smaller monsters you mentioned being beast type would be great.

When i was a kid at the movie theater who waited to open the pack after the movie, seeing pyramid of light destroy the god cards then opening the pack and seeing that it actually doesnt do that, oooohhhh shiiitttt was I upset!!! 😂😂😂

One thing I’d do is add a field spell as support called secret pyramid of the stars. What it wouid do is as follows. While face up on the field this cards name becomes pyramid of light. Upon activation you can set one pyramid of light from your deck face down and activate it during the end phase of this turn. Once per turn you can add one level 10 sphinx monster from deck or grave to your hand or summon a sphinx monster from hand to the field for 500 lifepoints then banish one card from the opponents field face down.

Ah man, good memories with this movie. I remember my mom took me to see it and then I went to see it with my childhood friend... Both times I pulled the new Dark Magician monster 😅

Fun Fact: In Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, Mai Valentine has in that game a Line on Summoning.. (a line the character says when you summon a certain monster like Yami Yugi who will say when Dark Magician is summoned "My ever faithful companion, Dark Magician!") ...with the RANK 4 XYZ Monster, Lightning Chidori for some... very weird... reason... I know that characters there have also lines with Monster cards they played in the Manga and I haven't read any of them but I don't think that Lightning Chidori existed as card for Mai Valentine in the Yugioh Manga and other that it is a Wind attribute it has nothing in common with her monsters. 😂

currently only 4 cards remain exclusive to pyramid of light: fall-out, obligatory summon, reverse of reverse, and deck destruction.

Tbh I wish Konami remade these cards, even if its just in spirit.

My lil bro has these cards and often wrecked me back in the day. Last time I fought it was with my new (at the time) Malefic deck and hoo boy did it not stand a chance; which was upsetting since in a way they are the same type just one is better. Both are movie exclusive, both are focused on fusing to make the better fusion and letting you summon those strong materials fast; all with a required field card that without it, the deck crumbles.

I'd love to see these cards return, even if the malefics die instantly to them; it's more fun losing to a worthy foe than getting an easy win.

As the only person who played the Pyramid of Light deck in my middle school I got  a lot of wedges wining against the kid that turboed out Blues-white dragon turn 1. Honestly the could make support for this archetype like Meklord but that is just my personal take.

"pile deck" and it's literally just nemleria with the sphinxes thrown in

Dang, we be getting cubic and malefic support before pyramids and GTA6

Personally they need a retrain of pyramid of light that meant to work with the original. Basically the the retain will be a field spell it would prevent opponents card effects and activate the original from the deck gy and banish. It will then prevent 3000atk monsters from attacking. A spell card that will special summon both spinx from the banish. Then a spell that banish both spinx special summon a monster from the gy. And a continuous spell that destroys all cards monsters on the field if your spinxs are destroyed special summon the big boy and attack this turn. And a monster that has 2500 def that once per spell and trap activation you can search for a spinx spell card this will be a 6 star but it can be special by tribute two monsters from your opponent field. And a another monster with 2500 atk 6 star can be special summon by banishing monsters from your gy that add up to the stars. Every monster summon search your deck for a trap if you do banish 5 cards from your opponent deck. What you think just a idea of support for the spinx cards.
