Why doesn't Rosalina sound like she used to?

Rosalina is the newest Mario princess, and yet her voice has been super inconsistent! Over the course of a handful of years, Rosalina had 3 different voice actors! So why does Nintendo keep changing her voice? Why doesn't this Mario character sound like she used to?!

the only issue i have is that they removed the echo from her voice. as a sad and lonely space princess the echo made so much sense 😞

Personally, I like galaxy Rosalina’s voice the best. She’s designed to be this calm and spiritual space princess and her voice in that game fits perfectly. It just doesn’t feel right that Rosalina has a more energetic personality in newer games when she was never designed to be that way so her newer voices just don’t fit her imo. No hate towards those voice actresses but I prefer the old one

They really really should have kept the echo on rosalinas voice. It really gives this ethereal vibe that fits to a celestial princess

I would personally say that I like the Mario Galaxy voice the most… it just fits Rosalina’s character the best, and it has the most noticeable echo effect to it which just makes it all the more impactful

The most horrifying part is the realization that Galaxy was 2007.... 😧

Unrelated about Laura Faye Smith but she has wonderful penmanship; when I met her at a convention and asked her to sign my Rosalina amiibo, she was able to sign her name in very clear cursive on that tiny amiibo base and even drew a little Luma.
Also she's a very nice and plesant lady.

It honestly still surprises me that Rosalina’s had 3 different voices in such a short time.

Funfact: Mario Tennis Aces uses Kerri Kane’s voice in her entrance cutscene & Laura when you play her. It’s sooo bizarre lol

It's so weird how all 3 voices fit her character so well... but if we're picking favorites, first one will always win.

my headcanon? as she spent more time in the mushroom kingdom and visited earth more often than she used to, Peach and Daisy's bubbly personalities rubbed off on Rosalina, thus breaking her out of her shell more and making her voice more peppy :)

I've always seen the voice changes as being representative of her becoming happier after becoming friends with Mario & co

FUN FACT: Unlike Mercedes Rose and Kerri Kane's Rosalina voices, Laura Faye Smith's Rosalina voice doesn't have an echo effect.

Whoever messed up those credits needs to be fired. How the heck does it happen 3 times?!

Me personally, I prefer the voice she has in the Galaxy games and Mario Kart Wii. Part of my reasoning is nostalgia. But also when I think “Rosalina” in my head, I hear her Mario Galaxy voice clips, as they’re the most fitting for the Universe goddess character I came up with for my world that is based on her.

I kinda like the first one because it's a very distinctive voice. We had Peach as the happy, cheerful, carefree princess; Daisy as the strong, no nonsense, energetic princess and Rosalina as the motherly, calm and otherworldly princess.
The newer one, while it stills retains some semblance of her maturity, steps a bit into Peach's territory with the bounciness and excitement. It makes me feel nostalgic of the original, warm, maternal voice.

The first actress and voice will always be my favorite. She sounds sleepy as if she’s waking up or about to fall asleep. She seems solemn, like she’s lost in thought about something even while she talks to you. The echo and depth in Mercedes’ voice make her sound like a goddess. It reminds me of Cate Blanchett as Mother Sea Granmamare goddess from Ponyo.

I will always have a soft spot for Rose's voice clips for Mario Kart Wii. It has a tone of "introvert coming out of her shell and having some fun!"

The thing with Kerri Kane, she still had that gentle soft voice like Mercedes. More towards upbeat but still had that Rosalina charm. The new actress, it’s not the same sadly but I do like seeing Rosalina much happier.

i like to think Rosa got happier the most she got along with Mario and the cast, like she could finally stop thinking about sad things and got to experience happiness for the first time

Tbh I think each voice fits her for every setting and they sound pretty similar in tone even if the intonation is different, the thing I really miss is the echo that makes her sound like a giant space Princess.
