The Godfather (1972): 200 Weird Facts You Didn't Know!
200 Godfather facts, and not the ones you already know. Not "Brando stuffed cotton in his cheeks." Not "the horse head was real." The ones underneath.
Why the studio spent months trying to fire the director of the greatest film ever made, and the meeting where a producer choked on his own decision. How the real mafia shut the production down, what Joe Colombo's men wanted removed from the script, and the one word you will never hear in this movie because of it.
Which mobster showed up to audition and nearly got the part.
Why Brando refused to memorize a single line, where the cue cards were actually hidden, and the scene where he's literally reading off another actor's chest. What the orange on the table means every single time you see one. And what happened to the real bosses the wedding was based on.
I walk the film start to finish, the casting wars over Pacino, the cat that wasn't in the script, the mumbled lines that were never supposed to stay, the $12,800 script auction, and the endings, both the one Puzo wrote and the one the mob got in real life, which was worse. Where a fact is solid, I say it straight. Where it's legend, I tell you that too.
