Every move from the Doc brought the game to an upper level

I lived in two ABA cities my entire childhood, so the upstart fun league was a sentimental favorite. I still believe the ABA was unfairly dissed by NBA city media. Julius, Artis, Dan, then David Thompson, Bobby Jones and George Gervin -- the best of '70s basketball were ABA players!

Thanks! These guys were all my childhood heros. Especially "Tiny" Archabald.

I was at this game one of my greatest sports memories

This is absolutely incredible, and I cannot thank you enough for uploading this.

Dan Issel is a very underrated player. He was such a force on the court in both leagues! A truly great player, in ANY time!

never even imagined this happened! right up my alley...

I was at this game. Just got my license but drove out there from Jersey with my friend. I was a huge ABA fan. The Nets!

No Euro step/no bunny hops/ no carrying over/ no long distance traveling.

Don Criqui was a real pro. God bless him.

Don Criqui. Underrated professional. One of the voices of the 70s and early 80s. Had spells with both NBC and CBS.

I was 15 when this game, part of a series that summer, was played. Loved the ABA. KUDOS for uploading this. Brings back great memories.
P.S.,  India.Arie's father, Ralph Simpson, is one of the ABA All-Stars in this game.

I was 14 years old and basketball crazy in 1972. These men were my heroes.

Back in a day when they played basketball as it was intended.

I Loved the ABA it was Great and did the same kind of things to the NBA that the AFL did to the NFL, more offense, players, ideas and fun  !!

Also underrated: Elgin Baylor as a smart, dignified man.

What an awesome find! I saw a bunch of Virginia Squires games when I was a kid.

Seeing Doc vs Hawk was well worth it.

The NBA won the game 106 TO 104? Enjoyed what I saw, brought back a lot of memories. If I remember well enough, the NBA threatened to fine and/or suspend any NBA player who participated in this game. Applause to the NBA players who stepped up and called the bluff by the Association. The officiating was a joke for the most part but it was an all-star game. The players took it serious though, as you could tell by the high level of defense...........................!!!!!

God I'm old I remember watching this as a kid!
