How does the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT handle when it’s carrying a complete touring load?

Before riding to the Picos de Europa, I wanted to test the bike somewhere familiar. I first rode two local roads i'm familiar with unloaded, then packed the panniers, top box and tank bag with the equipment I expect to take on the trip.

After adjusting the rear preload, I returned to the same roads to compare low-speed balance, steering, braking, suspension and stability through tighter and faster bends.

This isn’t a laboratory test or a packing tutorial. It’s simply my honest experience of getting to know the Tracer fully loaded before taking it onto unfamiliar mountain roads.

Motorcycling has become an important part of my recovery and moving forward. Preparing for the Picos is about more than getting the motorcycle ready—it’s another step in a journey I never imagined I would be making.

The next preparation job is the bar risers—explaining my choice, fitting them and finding out whether they improve my riding position before the trip.

If you’d like to follow the motorcycle preparation, my recovery journey and the eventual Picos adventure, consider subscribing and coming along.
