Honda and Kawasaki take slightly different approaches to their catch-all dual-sport motorcycles, the KLX 300 and CRF 300L. They're very similar, but the Honda makes a better street bike, while the Kawi is a bit more home off road.

The music is distracting, really would like to hear the sound of the engines here and how they are handling the load put upon them in the sand and dirt.

You are wrong about one thing - they are desirable for experience riders (Kawasaki claims, to their surprise, 40% of buyers are experienced riders). I started riding at 9yrs old and I’m now 67 and I’m looking at both of these because they are light, reliable, easy to ride and lots of fun.

Listening to both bikes on the internet the Honda just sounds quiter and more smooth and less rattling.I have never seen anyone do a sound/decibal test I would like to see that be done :)

Great video guys, thanks for sharing this. I currently ride a CRF rally and KLX 230, after this I’d like to have both bikes in your video. Most likely I’m going to get a KLX 300 next. I love the Kawasaki green!

18:30 kawis actually have a neutral assist where if you're not really moving first to second can't really happen, it only goes straight to neutral. Cool if you want neutral at a light without having to fish for it lol

The klx and crf have identical low end HP. Only in the midrange between 6-7k rpm the honda pulls ahead. The klx secondary throttle plate delete fixes this, making the two pretty much the same the whole way through the rev range. The sprocket ratios and rear tire diameters are the same. This leads me to believe the 1st-2nd transmission gear ratios on the Honda are lower, leading to people feeling it has more low end torque.
This is clearly still an advantage for the Honda, but it should be correctly attributed to the gearbox, not the engine, so as not to mislead buyers.

Both bikes are great. I chose the Honda. With minor mods it’s just a great bike. The Kawi does at least does have a little adjustability, so I give Kawi kudos in that department. For me though, I will always be team Honda.
