Watching Phil's playthrough makes feel like I'm watching my own kid self playing this game for the first time. I went through the same thoughts back then. Only difference being that I was 4 at that time.

I always laugh whenever Phil says that he doesn't get his hand held by the chat, yet here it is prominently displayed. Can't wait for Part 2.

I wouldn't have believed the death count had I not witnessed it myself.

I also can't talk about how frustrating it was, near the end, watching him on the polar bear. It was obvious that he started hitting the dash button far too late. So he was essentially dashing into the lakes and pits because he'd dash so late, the character would have no time left to jump. It's amazing how brain dead he is and unable to identify the simplest things that he's doing wrong, and then to say "I think my X button is bugged out or broken". Really, Phil? You think, somehow, your X button just magically went bad, all of a sudden? Christ all mighty!

Fun thing about Crash 2 is that it uses dynamic difficulty. You spot it with the Aku Akus when he dies too often at the same check-point, but this also makes boulder stages easier by slowing the boulder down. So really, this is the perfect game for him since the game will take pity on him when he inevitably (and catastrophically) fucks up.

When I was kid playing this game I always told myself “you know you’re bad when you eventually have to spawn with an Aku Aku”, that happens to Phil in almost every level so at least I know I wasn’t that bad when I was 6. 😂
