Bright white lights, no books, no tv, no phone, no nothing. I mean like... If someone didn't go crazy before going there there sure will by being there. That just sounds cruel to me

It is absolutely wild that a psych ward would have mentally ill people stuck in a room doing nothing, without creative activities, physical excercise, positive socialization, going outside... this is like someone going to the hospital for cancer and the doctors gifting them a pack of cigarettes and a cool glowing rock

LMAO AS A FILIPINO THE “it means nice to meet you” WAS SO FUNNY

Bro at the end when she said “you deserve to be happy” I got a sonic ad directly after that said “you deserve a better burger”

OMG THAT FIRST STORY IS ACTUALLY CRAZY AND SCARY WHAT THE HECK

Im a thin boy and when i was in the psych ward a guy kept asking me if I did have a dih under there(I WAS DRESSED IN NEUTRAL CLOTHES),nurses told me that he was on so many meds and ignore that but one day he was trying to get me in his bed so i got to call the nurses and nothing happened

4:54 the psych ward i went to literally separated boys and girls for this reason 💔

I worked in Mental Health as a nurse in Australia, and Mental Health Facilities are primarily used as a means of, like you said, preventing patients from deleting themselves, however it's more than that. The main facility I worked in had long stay wards, where patients were scheduled (the Aus term for committed) lived, as they would not live long in community, or were a risk of absconding and living on the streets.

One patient at the facility actually wasn't involuntary, but voluntarily scheduled himself in to the facility. My first day in the open ward he was in, he walked up to me and said "I'm crazy you know, I'm crazy". I replied with "I'm glad you're aware mate", and he said "Yeah, I'm crazy, but they look after me here. I'm safe here, they keep me safe here". The facility wasn't just a hospital, it was his home, where he knew there were people (the staff) that cared about him, and wanted to keep him safe. He was a sweet old man to, and loved walking around the facility (and was the only patient allowed to walk around unaccompanied, because everyone knew he'd always come back).

Involuntary patients were also interesting. One patient would spend his day catching Gumbys that only he could see, another would just walk around touching everything (he was on Electro Shock Therapy, but it had damaged his brain), and many were there with dementia. The patient that had ECT did have 1 moment where hebshone through. I was talking to him one shift, and I mentioned the Aussie car brand Holden, and how I really liked the Commodore. He then said to me "I think I like cars". I was surprised, and asked him what he thought of Holdens, and he said "yeah, I like them, they are good cars". It was brief, but it was good to see he was still there, given Id never heard him say anything other than Hello, or his name, or just murmur to himself.

Mental Health as a nurse is amazing, you need the be a bit loopy yourself, but it is amazing to work in it, especially when you're in a place that gives these people a home where they are safe...even if they'd rather abscond and go interstate to live on the streets like 1 patient was obsessed with doing.

People joking abt panic attacks r insanely sick. Panic attacks r like having an astronaut helmet on with water filled up in it and trying to take it off. The panic of the helmet being stuck is the attack

"may is mental health awareness month. so i thought what other perfect way is there to celebrate and spread awareness than......"
AP EXAMS AND FINALSSSS 🎉

Edit: OH WAIT NOW I ACTUALLY HAVE AP EXAMS SOMEBODY HELP💀

"Choking his chicken in front of me"....😰 I'm deeply concerned.....

Ah! This is horrible, I guarantee not every hospitals is like this, 6:24 when I went they were so kind to me and kept everyone stimulated with personal therapy, group therapy (not forced), coloring, crafts, music, books etc.

Him being like "WHY ARENT YOU PAINTING!?" for some reason reminded me of that one Game Grumps clip where Arin yells to John "WHY AREN'T YOU LOOKING AT ME!?"

8:50 ok, no offense but in your words "HE PUNCHED, A NURSE" I'm a 5'9 muscular black man, if i saw someone knock someone else out, I'm dealing with that situation with a the caution of a surgery operation

5:30 "I was crying for hours about how nobody loved me"

"WE LOVE YOU HONOBREAD!!!" We all say in unison

8:26  I'm a filipino born and raised in the UK so I BURST OUT LAUGHING HAHA I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face-
Also such a great video Hono!! Such an improvement on the last and we love to see it!

I also went to a physch ward and had very similar experiences! I met this guy who also had anger issues and he seemed very angry all the time, but once I actually sat down and talked to him he was actually very amazing! I did end up getting punched by him 😬 but he wasn’t angry at me, he was angry at himself. We actually weren’t allowed in our rooms, we also had frosted windows and no ability to go outside except to walk to the lunchroom. It’s cool to see someone who had similar experiences! Thank you for sharing your story ❤

7:11 An army of origami birb, one paper at a time..

As someone who’s been to a psych hospital twice I think this video is very well done and realistic. It can be traumatizing (especially if you expected to actually get help or if the staff/ other patients treat you poorly) but there can also be moments where you’re laughing with a stranger and the pain eases up even if it’s just for a little.
