Shame there's no sequel 😂

Yup, no sequel. Rift closed. Earth rebuilds. Hannibal opens a Szechwan restaurant.

The little girl who played Mako as a child had trouble pronouncing Guillermo del Toro's name so she received special permission to cal him Totoro San

Chuck’s whole personality makes way more sense when you realize he started training to be a pilot at 16 and he is only like 21 in this movie lol

Approximately a hundred Kaijus and a hundred Jaegers were designed, but only a fraction of them appeared in the film. Every week, the filmmakers held a vote for their favorites.

At first, all the kaijus looks like marine animals (crabs, sharks, etc) because that's all they know from the ocean's depth. After the scientist drifted with the kaiju brain and inadvertently shared their knowledge, we started having kaijus that looks like land animals.

The sound design for this film in the theater was unmatched. Felt like you were on the ground in a hurricane, every bass drop was like an earthquake.

one of the more successful live action anime adaptations without actually adapting any specific anime...shit's fun

Did they stop early, or watch through the end credits?

"Where's my godamn shoe!"

THE LONE RANGER getting nominated for Best VFX instead of this movie is outrageous

A thing that's easy to miss (that Ron Perlman's character clocks immediately, and you guys picked up on): The kaijus are a hive-mind. When Charlie Day's scientist drifts with them, the Kaiju learned all of the Jaegars. So the next batch of Kaijus were designed to beat those Jaegars: Acid to melt armor, a tentacle with claws to attack the weak cockpit and an EMP to disable the electronic controls. The reason Gypsy wins the fight is that the Kaiju weren't expecting GD to be fighting.

Pacific Rim is one of the greatest movies ever made it and it has no sequel

When little Mako is in the alleyway, every object on the set was rigged to the same hydraulic system. Whenever the giant monster was to take a step, everything bounced or shook in unison, including the puddles.

This is a good example of what happens when a filmmaker just focuses on making a movie entertaining for entertainments sake and giving the audience exactly what they want out of it. Which is different from how del Toro normally rolls where he will more often try to convey a message and artistic vision. That just shows off his versatility. Else my favorite of his is The Shape Of Water. I hope the powers that be here let Kristen and Vivian react to that one as well.

Essentially, this movie combined the Godzilla and Gundam universes into one.

Those heads were lifesize and Del Toro had absolutely no regard for actor safety. It was so great.

Idris Elba is the only person who can give you goosebumps just by saying "Today. Today..."

This movie is why my dog is named Gypsy. Love this movie!

When Kristen said, "Just like Godzilla!" They did have plans of crossing over Pacific Rim with Godzilla's Monsterverse. But fell through due to licensing issues.

"Today we are cancelling the Apocalypse!" Have to put that among the all-time badass motivational speeches.

Love how each Kaiju and each Jaeger are unique. The last time I can remember live-action giant mecha was "Robot Jox", and this is orders of magnitude better. As for the sequel.... well, it's there.
