I watched Gintama just to be able to say “it’s not THAT good.” It proceeded to become my favorite show of all time.

Taking multiple slots in the top 10 at a time is a very Gintama thing to do

"The Insane History of FMAB fans review bombing every other popular anime for a decade"

One thing to note that I think is missing from the final list, Steins;Gate actually got the #1 spot on MAL for like half a day in the beginning of August 2019, back when FMAB and AoT fans were busy trying to downvote each other. AoT reached 9.12 and FMAB went down to 9.10 while Steins;Gate was at 9.13, making it the #1 anime for sometime.

So basically, the ancients are saying I shoud watch Gintama?

yeah okay buddy you can say it's "history" all u want but I am gonna do my own research and form my own conclusions on why Sonic X is actually #1

Pingu in the city being number 1 for a hot minute in 2017 was crazy to see!

Sousou no Frieren came at the right time. With the fatigue of always more action and always more explosion. It tells a story that anime/manga fans didn't think they wanted to see. But that's what they really wanted at that moment.

17:51 ah yes, Nux taku felt a bit devious one day and said "let's make interspecies reviewers the number 1" then made it happen

Something about the top 1 ranking, is the Spam of low votes the new top 1 would recieve the time it passed Full Metal.
It's like Some people don't want to see other anime besides their own favorite at top 1

With Pingu in the City, at least to my memory of that period of time, think it was just a joke folks did to throw FMAB off its #1 spot. I mean it wasn't gon work since FMAB shills would downgrade a show to make sure you fell as quick as humanly possible, but yh. I remember some friends at the time told me to mark it a 10 bc it was apparently the thing to do, since like I did, even in a joking fashion, ppl wanted to test that FMAB stranglehold.

This video taught me one thing. I need to stop putting off watching Gintama. 😂😂😂

As a generational Steins;Gate glazer, it’s so sad to see it never hitting #1 (even though Im pretty sure it did for a day when FMAB and AOT were review bombing each-other) however, staying in the top 6 it’s entire lifetime is something else worth celebrating

Legend of the Galactic Heroes is the OG goat

I can only conclude that FMA fans also like Frieren and thus allowed its existence. Makes sense, these are the two I recommend to people starting out even if Frieren doesn't work as well without having some amount of background knowledge of the stories and tropes it's in conversation with imo

I think people underestimate how insane Frieren's rating really is.
Many anime came and held a rating of 9.4+ for a couple days, but quickly fell off to normalcy again.
But Frieren has held a ~0.2 rating advantage for a *full year*.
As I write this, the difference between Frieren and FMAB is as big as the difference between FMAB and gintama movie 2 (LOL) all the way down in 21st! TWENTY FIRST! That is absolutely bonkers.

21:53 Real Shinzo Abe speaking for his people

Looks like Legend of the galactic heroes needs a boost to to stay in the top 10 consistently once more.

U all r lookin and number 1, but the true king is gintama who takes half of the 10 places

Always a good day to be a Gintama fan. I'm happy seeing the comment section opening their eyes to it lmao
