Thanks for the mention! Agreed with everything you said. After 1.004 career mode is definitely better but the AI stuff is still a bit of a pain even though it's better after the patch. I hope they keep working on it. The leg speed / fixed time bug  is still there annoyingly :(

Man I wish every sim had this level of ease configuring controllers

Great video! Love the production value

The game is awesome been playing on the combat box server almost daily now.

Very fair and accurate review imho.

To built upon the AI Problems: its not only the enemys AI, its also your squadron. You wont see them building on whats happening, everything feels confuse and unrelated to each other. When you fly the Mig15 a typical encounter is with a group of F51's. You dive on them,
shoot what you can, sometimes they split or keep going as a group,
You pull up just to see all of them follwing you from now on, no thought about the rest of your squadron.
Which is ok because all your mates apart from your wingman will just curve around them.

Charging $70 for a game that developers admit isn't ready is Dr. Evil level evil.

Excellent review. One of the best I've seen in dozen of years in aviasims. 👏

If they fix terrain and add more visual effects it will be best sim

sounds good

Need to get back to IL I have been cold & dark training on Dcs warbirds.

I've come to the conclusion that 1C games are just full of BS when it comes to their dev blogs and patch notes. They claim to have added features that just aren't there, and their so-called fixes amount to no more than tweaking a few knobs.

Nice Video! Just a comment on multiplayer: currently, the North Korean side has a very limited number of planes to choose from, and the carrier operation will not alleviate this. I am enjoying the ground pounders on the UN side a lot, and also the IL-10 is great. But flying on North Korean side, the IL-10 is the only option. If I want to fly the dark side, it  makes it feel to me like "all the shiny toys" are on the other side, and I have to play with my older brother's worn out toys. That kinda sucks for me.

Does anybody recommend Beam over TrackIR? I've been using TrackIR for years now but have been annoyed with sunlight messing with it

I've never been able to get my HOTAS working right in the IL-2 sims. May have to give this version a try.

I bought the most expensive version of the game and have been pretty disappointed overall.  The AI is obviously the biggest reason.  But career mode disappoints me.   It doesn't feel like a career. It feels like flying the same missions over and over again, but with some shallow squadron and logistics management tacked on to it.  Last time I played the career, I bombed the same targets for 2-3 missions in a row. I think the same units were there again every mission no matter how many we destroyed. It totally didn't matter.  I also think it is lame that you can't actually influence the war at all. Like what's the point then? You might as well fly single missions or do the scripted campaign instead. I mentioned in a comment on someone else's video before too, that during a MiG-15 career, my squadron shot down more B-29's in one or two days than the USAF lost in the entire real life war. And that's what I mean about not being able to influence the war. In real life after a disastrous loss like that in the first 2 days, the USAF would have switched to night bombing, sent them to areas least likely to have MiG-15s around, or withdrawn the B-29's entirely. But in the IL-2 career, they just keep coming in infinite numbers in the same missions every day.  If that ever changes in game at some point, I don't know, because so far I've only played a couple of weeks tops in that career. Maybe they do eventually switch to night bombing only. (but again, if they do, it's because it was scripted to do it at a certain point, not because of what happened in the career)  It's sad that games from the early 90's had careers and campaigns that were more fun and made you feel like you were actually important and making a difference. I don't accept the devs' statement that one squadron couldn't affect the outcome of the war. It's mostly true, yes, but this is a video game and it takes away some fun and agency from the players. That said, I'm glad there actually is a career mode because so many simulation games these days don't even bother to make one.   Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

DCS has used PBR for a decade, what are you on about?

Did the friendly AI become more proficient after the patch?

Ai is a shame, Im going back to 1946 and blitz... Omg the difference is staggering

2c should be ashamed to drop a sim with this level of developpement in one of the key componenent for a good sim

Mig 15 doing split s with no reason, at least not according to the player manoeuver is one of the reasons I stopped flying on this new sim. It's no fun
