Happy to add to this topic: These are all of the things I have noticed with control freaks. 1. They will control you choice of words. You say meeting. They say appointment is more appropriate. 2. They will talk over you in conversations, repeatedly.  3. The will deflect, project and escalate arguments so they don't lose. They will never say they are sorry (at least a real sorry). 4. They are highly jealous and will get angry if you even look another person's way for a second or two. 5. They over schedule themselves, their kids, and want to be in positions of power like PTA president, or manager, or coach, or organizer. 6. They need constant validation from various sources.  6. If you listen closely, they tell you how insecure they are by how they say they are going to do some amazing things that you know they will never do. 7. They need to be the expert on everything, even if it's something you have done together. You feel like they are always trying to teach you something. 8. they are highly worried about their public persona, and will get angry if you, someone they believe to be an extention of that persona, does something to threaten how others view them. 9. They will tell you where to park (on your own street), how to dress, how to act at family gatherings, how to raise your children, all while looking like they are on the verge of falling apart because they can barely manage their own lives. 10. If you try to slowly pull away they will use a crisis, or a panic attack, or some other tactic to pull you back in. Or they will chase after you in a dyregulated state that you have not seen before (this is control, not love). 11. If you leave them, they will control the narrative, convince themselves that they left you, weaponize therapy speak to control any interactions so they don't have to be vulnerable and admit fault, and hope that you chase them so they can control your interactions post-break up. Even if you can call out all of these control tactics during the relationship and try to work around them, of with them, new ones will pop up if you try to pull away, and they will escalate to try to get you under even more of their control. For control freaks with an abandonment wound, you can expect your relationship will probably last just over a year (if you are someone who values your automonmy). If you are codependent, you can expect to have a slightly longer relationship until your avoidant (resentful) side kids in, or your nervous system tells you your body has had enough of their chaos (illness, you feel more peaceful at home than with them). But, I would say, it is highly difficult to have a relationship with this type of personality. You can't breathe in a relationship like this once the struggle phase starts.

Some ,if not all ,of the most controlling people I've known, were completely uncontrollable ,or out of control themselves😮
They live in a world of double standards and have one set of rules for you and another set of rules for themselves
This is what is wrong with the world

So my coworker fits this exactly.  Last word thing was the nail in the coffin.

This is so true. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Thank you for this validation . Makes me stronger

I’m scared of her and she talk to her husband crazy azz hell and he don’t have no word in, She think when you defend yourself your a sassy men

I’m going in the morning to get my stuff and I have anxiety just thinking about it and when I go out there in the morning

good video, thank you Dr. Seth

Very insightful information. Relationships like these are especially difficult when the c.f. is someone you really care about, and have long made excuses for. Sometimes the only, last resort is to discontinue association. Also, don’t encourage them to run for public office.

Thank you so much.

In my opinion, I went to a high school were they told us repeatedly we should practise "critical " thinking. But the fact that we only read Marx, Nieztche, Freud and all sort of left wing atheist ideology, made it impossible to have a real thinking or complete understanding. So what they did was indoctrinated a lot of young people to continue to give power to their own sick and twisted and stubborn ideologies.

That "critical" thinking, led me to be a "hipercritical" cinist in every way,
nowadays I go to catholic church and I look for peace and understanding and respect.
But many people are trapped by this ideologies that lead to suffering, hate and not a good sense of reality , because it is totaly imbalanced.

I guess they want to pursue power in a harmful way, by erasing all literature from different people, and they want us to be ignorant so that they can keep having power and choosing for us, since they treat us as ignorants in the end.
I think it is really perverse, that they keep us from learning from different authors.

We repeat Marx in every public university too, and they say it is the best here, the Buenos Aires University.

I guess we need a real conscience check, and we need more psicologists and spiritual guidance.

A family member fits this oh my God I need distance from them

They grew up in an environment that was out of control.

THANKS! YOU'RE MOST HELPFUL! And people WONDER WHY MANY are CHOOSING to SPEND MORE TIME ALONE... WHAT'S TO WONDER?? 😂😂😂If "ALONE" is MORE JOY and PEACE, and "TOGETHER" is MORE ANXIETY and STRESS, it's NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!! Once YOU'VE TASTED IT, it CAN BE  WONDER... FUL! 😌💕 Even if WE FEEL "LONELY," but then again, I'VE FELT MORE "LONELY" AROUND CERTAIN PEOPLE than BY MYSELF! And THAT'S INSANE! Maybe those who WONDER are the CONTROLLING ONES, IDK. lol. FREEDOM and PEACE, OVER POWER and CONTROL! ALWAYS!😀❤

My goodness I am dying laughing rn! So relatable 😂 it’s like you’ve met my ex and his family lol

I had my phone's hacked and bugged and my TV'S hacked. It's become my way of life. How is that not controlling? My space my privacy, violated.😪

Sick bastards think they r better than someone else…. Humble thy self

They are narcissists too.

I lived with a controlling mother.  It was hell.  She denies it, but I know it's  not my imagination.  She still does it.  I learned to ignore it because it would drive me crazy otherwise.

My nephew’s wife has to hide eating white bread because he doesn’t approve!  It’s sickening!

I have a sister like that very controlling and I had to get up out of there last week and I texted her yesterday and said I’m moving out and she went crazy on me, And I don’t understand why she mad because I left

Thank you this is very insightful 🙏🏻
