Spain is facing a powerful severe weather outbreak as torrential rain, flash floods, thunderstorms and large hail strike several regions. Tarragona and southern Catalonia are among the hardest-hit areas, with more than 300mm of rain reported around Ulldecona, while flooding affected Santa Bàrbara, Alcanar, Les Cases d'Alcanar, Amposta, Masdenverge and other parts of Montsià and Baix Ebre.

The extreme rainfall caused roads to flood, waterways to surge and emergency crews to carry out rescues, including horses trapped by rising water in Ulldecona. Further along the Tarragona coast, intense runoff swept away a wooden bridge near L’Ametlla de Mar, while another rescue was reported near Amposta.

Severe storms also reached Valencia and Andalusia, where golf-ball-sized hail created dangerous driving conditions near Fiñana and affected Abrucena. Spain remains under an unstable weather pattern, with intense thunderstorms and sudden flooding continuing to threaten roads, ravines and low-lying communities.
