Slovenia is so underrated. Beautiful country.

The Netherlands has the DAFT which has to be one of the most generous work treaties in the world.  So I don't know what your criteria is, but it does not seem rational.
Half the people in Belgium speak French.

This is a cool video!  Although I may not agree with some of your picks and may not follow the logic of your tier selections, it was great getting your opinion and listening to the insights you provided.  Thank you!

Cyprus B tier! Lessgoooo I really get your points and when I moved abroad to study, I realised everything you said though being from Cyprus, I love the country, the nature it offers, and the lifestyle you can have!

I would largely agree with these choices.  Having Italian, Austrian and soon Polish citizenships, It is nice to see them at the top.  They got good cuisine and health care!

For me, France does have a lot of problems but the food and the health care are also some of the best in the EU.  That might be enough to persuade me to over look some of the other issues.  But I would stay away from Paris.  There are better places to be in France.

My personal preferences, listed in order of preference are Austria, Poland, Italy (mainly due to being a direct citizen), Ireland, France, Luxembourg.

I would have considered Malta but had to rule it out because there is no totalization agreement with the US and so my US Social Security work credits will not be counted there if I work in Malta.  Too bad.  If they had the treaty, I would have highly consider it.

I also ruled out Germany because people over 55 are excluded from joining the public health care system.  So I would be forced to go private and stay private in retirement.
I might not even be able to qualify for private due to age + pre-existing conditions or the cost might be very high.  At least Austria has no such restrictions.

Would have been nice if you included the political climate in your assessment. I understand you intentionally avoid the topic but if anyone is considering moving anywhere it’s the most important consideration these days. Cheers.

One ex Pat, who plans on moving to France from the United States did his research on Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal including consultation with a tax expert. To make a long story short, the yearly taxes that he would have to pay in Italy, Spain, and Portugal would have been about $10,000, approximately 1/4 of his retirement income. In France his yearly tax liability would be approximately $2200. And no, he wasn’t interested in moving to a town in Italy with fewer than 30,000 people in the south in order to get that 7% tax benefit.

I am surprised my Country Greece ranks as A tear. But it is definetly that if you have disposable income it is one of the best destinations to live.

I emigrated abroad Austria years ago

Finland is prolly closer to Estonia culturally wise

Regarding Sweden the issues of crime are extremely overblown, gang related crimes also to 99% affect other criminals and only occur in a handful of segregated suburbs at night - suburbs that btw would be considered safe and “nice neighbourhoods” in America and many other Western European countries like France or the Yookay. Sweden for example recorded its lowest murder rate IN HISTORY last year at a rate of roughly 0.65-0.70 murders per 100 000.

This is Japanese or Icelandic levels of violent crime lol. Please let’s all take a deep breath here and come back to reality.

Gang related shootings is also down nearly 60% compared to 2022 and crime overall is really falling fast. Sweden also have net-negative non European migration since 2023 and basically doing the Far-right wet dream of “Remigration” at the moment (I’m not saying this is good or bad, just that Sweden isn’t what you think in 2026 anymore!)

So the impression some very online people have about Sweden was maybe true in 2015 regarding migration and up until 2023 true about crime (even then it was still very safe for normal people however) but Sweden has changed a lot in this time and really improved.

It’s also quickly being kind of the Silicon Valley of Europe or the “Capital of Capital” with many comparing the vibe in Stockholm now to San Francisco in the late 2000s or early 2010s

Funny to watch for me as a German :D

Just to make sure...is the graph like this or is it upside down?

"This has never been done on this channel before". Ok, that's a bold statement. I'm getting exited. This ranking is HIS personal view. Ah, so not anything scientific or proved that I can actually use for something. Now I'm back on the ground again. Paused and looking at comments. Not all are positive. Quick exit less than 45 sec into the video. Bye!

Pissing on France for no good reason other than personal dislike is completely wrong when analyzing why it could work. Italy, Portugal, and Spain should be towards the bottom based on objective criteria. Italy has become a nightmare to get a visa. Unless you live in a 7% zone, taxes will kill you. Portugal and Spain are now taxing Capital Gains at %28. That makes them a no go.

I love Italy but I just can’t seem to make it work, Same for Portugal. Because of my own circumstances, I can have a French Visa in 3 weeks. That’s hard to beat.

S+: Switzerland, Norway

Ok, thumbs down for France bashing. Anti employee campaigning is just cringe. 😂

What country is the best for an American expat who makes $4500.00 USD net a month?

Yeah Portugal has become almost impossible for portuguese people

Italy could be the European golden state, potentially.😊

Germany is the biggest economy in Europe and you put it in D? Really your opinions are just that but tell us where in Europe you have lived enough to have a non biased opinion?
