I used to play chess all the time when I was a child but back then had no idea what I was doing other than how each piece moved. I didn't know anything in regards to strategy and back then didn't even know that it's best to keep control of the center of the board. Now I'm 42 and recently decided to start playing Chess again and my 17 year old son has been absolutely destroying me everytime we play! My biggest issue right now is that I feel like I'm always reacting to what he's doing rather than feeling like I'm setting up any sort of attacks. I feel like I'm just doing my best to run away from him!
Very helpful video, thank you. I appreciate you playing it out at the end and discussing the threat of a stalemate. I am new and have missed out on wins because I didn't have a strategy to close it out at the end.
I've always liked that approach-if I have any material advantage to start trading down pieces. With every trade my material advantage becomes stronger. Nice to see that supported here.
Wow! Excellent advice. I tried trading pieces after positioning and messed up my first try by accidentally drawing, but my second game was a win. I'm playing against my computer game. I'll do this a while longer and start increasing the difficulty. Thank you!
that endgame was a blunder, he got out the fork threat with tempo because he had a threat doubling. should've just defended the pawn with a3 and black would've had 0 counterplay
Thanks for all your useful and insightful videos… in such an endgame I like to relax and march a pawn up …then the only thing I gotta double check against is a stalemate on conversion😅
