These new home builders should be held criminally liable. This is fraud and plain criminal negligence if someone dies or gets injured - and they will.

I live in an apartment building that was built about 55 - 60 years ago.
The construction is modular concrete which means that there are cement ceilings ( plastered ), cement floors ( with hardwood flooring ) and cement walls between apartments ( zero drywall - everything was “old-school” plastered ).
In other words, each apartment is its own self-contained concrete “box”.
My apartment is 1400 sq. ft. which is gigantic by today’s standards.
Not only does this place feel solid as a fortress ( which it is ) but it is also remarkably soundproof.
I never hear my neighbours AT ALL.
It is also highly fire-resistant.
I’ve lived here for 30 years.
It’s a real hidden gem here in Toronto and NOTHING else could even come close.
As far as I’m concerned, new does NOT equal better - by any stretch.

When we bought our most recent house we told our agent not to show us anything that didn't have mature trees. Those subdivisions with no trees and every house the same completely depress me.

Thankfully my husband agreed with me on the type of house/neighborhood. We bought a 1985 ranch style home in a neighborhood where most house look different and there is a lot of trees.

This is the result of allowing private equity companies to build thousands and thousands of homes.

The “builder” is a giant corporation that is ONLY concerned with maximum profits.

My grandfather used to be a carpenter and he would be the one to have to come back and fix the mistakes that other contractors would make. He even had a contract in the twin towers and was going to sign the deal the day they collapsed

My house was built in 1996. I have been living here for 10 years and have not had any major issues. The home inspector I hired said the house is well built. This is my forever home, it’s a ranch on a basement.

Biggest lesson I've learned as a homeowner: if the company contracts out their workers instead of training and hiring in-house, skip it.

I live in a small town in GA.! I moved here17 years ago and there were thousands of trees 🌲, dears, and bunnies 🐰.! Now this place looks like freaking Arizona 😳 cause they have deforested the entire town to build this dystopian neighborhoods.! It’s so weird 🤦‍♀️ and Those neighborhoods look so depressing 😔

A friend was going to buy a house and it was a new build. They did such an awful job and she was calling them out. She got trespassed from the property...

Thank God for our home inspector! We got a new roof, air conditioner unit, and dishwasher out of it. We love our house but he pointed out these flaws and the seller agreed to replace these items. 🎉❤🙏 Also, if moving don't buy bulky boxes that are hard to lift. We bought like 50 large blue IKEA bags that cost 50 cents a piece. They never break no matter how much you fill them. We put all our stuff in them and carted them into our new home. No boxes to break up and the bags were gifted to a friend who was moving.

Shower drain is not a simple fix. This actually happened in the master shower in our new home. Water pooled and they just ripped our whole shower out and are redoing it at our house this very week under warranty.

As a kid I used to watch movies and stuff where people would crash through walls an thought they were strong af . Turns out , the houses were made of cardboard .

Thats why in Eastern Europe we built homes with blocks, bricks, cement.

purchased my first home last december. while we were house shopping we found SO many homes in neighborhoods with no damn trees. not a single one. it felt dystopian and i hated it immediately. we ended up purchasing a home built in the 70’s with boatloads of character that modern homes are missing. i wouldn’t have it any other way.

I just bought a home in Northern Arizona. It was built in 1971. I had a thorough home inspection professionally done. The inspector told me that the home was built extremely well and had no issues. He also mentioned that he hated inspecting newer homes because of the numerous issues he has to note.
