This is the ninth truck camper I have constructed in my garage. Building these campers is a passion of mine and a way for me to express my creativity. This particular camper is lightweight and well insulated. I tried to strike a balance between comfort and mobility.

It is made using a hand laminated cedar frame skinned with 1/4 plywood that is finished with a polyurethane based coating (Durabak 18 smooth). I installed a dutch door and microwave too! The overall exterior is sleek but rugged with several overland assentials mounted externally.

Sorry, i don’t do any custom builds and do not build for commercial production. This is just a hobby. Thanks for your interest though.

Please check out the tours for my other builds below. I also have a build series for each of my campers.

Blown away. Never would have guessed this was a DIY project. You're a true craftsman.

You are an engineer, you didn't go to school for it but you know how to engineer a camper. Don't sell yourself short to save someone else's ego.

Another advantage of a small lightweight truck camper: even if your camper is laden with camping supplies, with a base weight of 500 lbs, you probably still have some towing capacity available. Bring the dirt bike or ATV! 👍

This is your best version yet. I’ll take one please.

This is exactly the truck camper I want. Very nice build.

Aesthetically this is the most pleasing truck camper I’ve seen. Those are some awesomely beautiful lines. In Europe they have some good looking units too. Those guys are trying. Dave, you should put it through a wind tunnel and get it patented like they do with cars. Maybe you can sell it to a roto- moulding company to put it in polyethylene. Like those indestructible boats. Seems a new trend in Europe and Australia.
Great journey, sir! Thank you for sharing.

Here's a quote for you. An Engineer works with math to optimize a build, a Field Engineer works with what is in front of them. There's no substitute for experience.

Fridge and Microwave were both good calls. Slick camper.

Your experience of building shows. Function, lightweight, aerodynamic and beautiful.

Truck camper exteriors aren’t generally attractive, but this one is adorable! Am I bummed out that one can’t stand up inside? Yes, but there are always trade-offs…

A true craftsman and artist. No doubt! But even better yet, a true friend! You are THE BEST!

I actually like how your bed is placed like that, no need to setup and that is practical.

It’s not only a craft, it is an art work. Love it.

Dutch door, great idea

Sometimes you don't have to be an engineer to design/build something as beautiful, practical, simple, light..................and brilliant! You are one! I am an engineer and simply put; "You hit the ball out of the park"! Excellent content. A+

I would not hesitate to buy your camper. Now as for a "factory build, mass production model, not so confident. I really believe you could start a small business building this very camper and sell every one of them. Probably most people would pay you in advance. I would !!! You're retired so enjoy it . Such an excellent build. Congratulations!! Looking forward to seeing your adventures. 👍👍

I read your description so I know you only build these for yourself but wow, I wish something like this was available on the market!!!!

My great grandfather had a homemade one he would sleep in all winter…when we were kids and visited in the summer we would sleep in it. It lasted for years. Brings back memories from the early 70s.
