From Scandinavia here. Thank you for your honest feedback. As a guy with 17 years' experience and no real education, while trying to get an education, and go into a new job, I have realized how important international and experienced feedback can be. Thank you very much for not charging people for this good information. I appreciate how you face negative criticism and the nagging of people who are simply not willing to listen. Your videos have helped me deliver five of the most important interviews I have had in the past year. They have also given me the tools to ask good enough questions so that I can stand out from the oblivion of regular candidates. All the best🙏

Everyone hates poor recruiters.  Poor recruiters are 80% of the market.  Get yourself a good recruiter and stay with them.

My last two positions have been two of the worst in my 30+ year career, and the recruiters just didn't understand the reason or the environment.

Too many non-IT people are in charge of both IT and IT recruiting.  Oh, you don't have Java 17, you only have Java 24 was one of my favorite issues.

It's impractical to "verify the opening with an insider and ask one direct question" before you apply to every job, at least in 2026. Can't even imagine how much more work it costs and how long you'd have to wait for each response, much less to keep track and finish the applications in the 2-week window.

The backup candidate has a name on the inside. Silver medalist. Some companies keep a documented pipeline of them and surface you automatically when a similar req opens, which is exactly why the recruiter who ignored you in March calls you in September sounding delighted. Worth knowing because it changes what you do with the silence. It's a status in a system, not an opinion about you.

Some months ago I had a personal interview. That was a middle-sized company, there was no recruiter in room. After watching your videos I asked a deadline to say me a yes or no. They gave me and than ghosted. The positon couln't be cancealed because they were in a hurry, wanted someone soon.  Maybe the painful truth is people sometime just don't care each other, and I meant nothing to them. Some sort of things don't need to be explaned because the situation is clear. Not every company working on the same way - especially outside of the USA.

Everyone here is getting mad at Farah's explanation and she's just telling you how to play the game. She's not making you play, just telling you how if you choose to

I had a few blackholes both from employers and recruiters. Its not worth chasing after them. Just keep it going my job search. Ghoasting also happened to me, it was just unfortunate.

I have known from quite a few internal references that there was an internal Recruit, but they posted online anyway. These days I don’t apply to any job which has been posted for more than 48 hours.

Everytime I hear a classic music or jazz from wherever I go, I remember your videos! I mostly hear them in the elevator when I'm on my way to apply so it's like a mini-review hahahaha love your videos and love your aura so much!!! ❤‍🔥🔥

This is great information, in addition to this, if you have a suggestion on an amazing Italian Villa now you’re cooking. 😎

There's fake and then there is lying.  You visit your doctor and he asks you how your day was, you say fine - that's pleasantries.  Telling the truth in pleasantries is weirder than being fake.  Nobody holds you to it.  But if the doctor says, have you been taking your medication daily as prescribed - you say yes and you haven't.  That's lying.  The problem is when someone gets up there and says are you a people person and you smile and say you are - know you're an introvert.  That's lying.  Or if you're asked do you have 5 years Python experience.  You say yes but you don't know what Python is, that's lying and that's a major, major issue with recuiting.

8:24 That's the one many has to "lie" about. Many Western countries have a special relationship with their former colonies that, while one still requires a visa or work permit, company visa sponsorship is often not necessary. Conversion from student visa to working visa also doesn't require sponsorship under some schemes. So, no, I'm not authorized to work in this country this moment, but I'm one online form away from being authorized once I received your job offer.

Also helpful to know most companies are posting fake "ghost job" listings with positions that don't even exist

Aren’t some companies required to post jobs externally even if they have a qualified internal candidate due to certain legal or Federal requirements in the States. It seems like I’ve heard that there is a requirement similar to equal opportunity that requires an external posting regardless.

I feel like recruiters are hired to take the hits. Companies use them as bouncers and scapegoats. I wish recruiters were still recruiting. I don't blame them for this. The zeitgeist is totally messed up.

Why in the world should any company have the audacity to have a backup, when they end up hiring a bomb out and then the same dang job gets reposted weeks later because the flop they hired didn't work out (or quit).

Why do we have to give our Social Security to the company??

Hi Farah, are cover letters actually helpful? I am an engineer and I never bother with cover letter thinking recruiters only spend less than a minute reading resume anyways so they ain't got the time for cover letter.

Thanks! Love your channel, been searching for this type of content for a while.

Hi Farah!

I really enjoy your approach to career and interview advice, especially how you bring the recruiter’s perspective into practical frameworks like STAR and the Google XYZ formula, rather than giving generic interview tips.

I also sent you an email today with a personalized App idea inspired by your approach.

The idea is to turn your frameworks into an interactive practice space where people can practise real interview questions, structure their answers step by step, improve their resume bullets, and get AI feedback based on the frameworks you teach.

I think your recruiter-driven approach could become something really valuable beyond YouTube — especially as a practical tool people can use to actually practise before an interview or job application.

I’d love to hear what you think! 😊

What is your advice when the salary expectation questions is a required answer on the online applications and the answer field only allows numbers?
