In 58 years of following motor sport, I think this is the first time I've heard Pedro Rodriguez speak.  Wonderful footage, thank you so much.   I had a real lump in my throat at 2.46 seeing Piers Courage's De Tomaso knowing what would happen during the race 😢

The Lotus 49 is always stunning in all its versions!

The day that, finally, the Lotus 72 was sorted out and became the team’s car for six seasons. Imagine that today.

Ìk volg formule 1 sinds de GP van Zandvoort in 1981. Dit voegt zoveel toe,  dank! Wat een geniale, unieke beelden.

Real,F1 racing, not like nowadays

First F1 race I ever attended.  Also a first for my dad who had worked in Scheveningen’s grand hotel in the 1920’s.  Being an Austrian, he and I were both delighted that Rindt won, though the death of Piers Courage put quite a damper on the day.  A very memorable season - with Brabham’s terrible luck (being robbed of two certain wins at Monaco and Brands) and Rindt’s posthumous title.  I also remember the team mechanics at Zandvoort got to drive the cars from the paddock back to the garages in town after practice (down a cobblestone alleyway with the noses removed to prevent damage).  Recall thinking, “That’s a good job to have; travel the world and occasionally ferry an F1 car while people take your picture. 💁

Very nice. My brother and I walked around this track one month after this race. You could see still see the burnt section where Piers Courage crashed. I have the Autosport issue of the race with Jochen Rindt in the Lotus 72 on the cover winning its first of many races.

Great... thanks for these wonderful shares :medal-yellow-first-red:

Top deze beelden van Zandvoort

Great.

Mooie beelden!

02:50 Piers Courage's car.... I saw him finish 2nd at Watkins Glen the previous October. He had two 2nds that season. A classy, gentle soul. Good driver, though F1 a bit ambitious for his inconsistent ability. Brutal period for elite motorsport; we watched, eager and nervous. 🌓

Geweldig! Bedankt! In dit seizoen werd Jochen Rindt {vanaf 5:49} als enige ooit  *Postuum Wereldkampioen*! Later dat jaar overleed hij bij de G.P. van Italie te Monza! Race In Peace /&\^

Mooi man! Bedankt voor het delen.

Imagens incríveis!

Great footage. Tiny cars, big tires, no safety factors in evidence. Must have been great fun as long as it was all good.

Bedankt Ed.
