'The Texan Twiggy' - Shelley Duvall

What really happened to Shelley Duvall, the unforgettable “Texan Twiggy” who became one of the most distinctive faces of 1970s Hollywood — and why did she eventually walk away from the world that made her famous?
In this REMEMBER documentary, we explore the remarkable life of Shelley Duvall, from an accidental discovery in Houston to her extraordinary collaboration with director Robert Altman. Through films like Thieves Like Us, 3 Women, Popeye, and Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, Duvall became an actress unlike anyone Hollywood had seen before.
But Shelley Duvall’s story is much bigger than Wendy Torrance. We revisit her Cannes triumph, her relationship with Paul Simon, the grueling production of The Shining, and the later reassessment of a performance once unfairly dismissed. We also explore the chapter often forgotten: Duvall’s pioneering work as the creator and producer behind Faerie Tale Theatre and other imaginative television productions.
Finally, we examine her retreat from Hollywood, the controversial 2016 Dr. Phil interview, her quiet life in Texas, her unexpected return to acting, and the legacy she left behind after her death in 2024.
Shelley Duvall never looked, sounded, or behaved like a conventional Hollywood star. Perhaps that was exactly why she became unforgettable.
